I maybe missing something here, but I use home assistant core, as a docker container within Unraid. Other add-ons, I have managed to download a docker container for them and link them to HA core, however I am struggling to set up the Piper and Whisper dockers. I have found them on dockerhub, under Rhasspy repository, and composed the docker file as per the parameters in dockerhub, but neither containers start, or even download anything to the specified folder location. any help would be great, thanks
Same here with my M5 Atom. I can control HA but I don’t receive any feedback from the Assist neither can I play any tts message on it (on the media_player that has been created). Not sure if I’m missing anything to make it work.
Fantastic update. It has little use for me now, but I am excited for the groundwork being laid, for running a fully local speech assistant.
The ideal scenario for me, is that I can make use of my existing Sonos setup for speech and output. But I guess that is unlikely.
Next best thing would be someone to pickup the mantle and produce a small, pretty unit with good microphone capabilities, that I can spread around my home.
If you are having trouble with the ECOWITT Integration, make sure you have migrated from the HACS Versions (GitHub - garbled1/homeassistant_ecowitt: Ecowitt Weather Station integration for homeassistant) to the official version
Here is the official ECOWITT integration
I far as I understand, the HACS version is no longer maintained.
You can link it to google assistant and do a command using the google assistant sdk to execute room cleaning.
What a nightmare this is.
All my Echo entities are gone and I now have to add hundreds of entities again by hand. This is not even funny. One more catastrophic update again and I’m back to ioBroker or openHAB. I don’t care much about voice assistants so at least make such stupid changes optional. This will take me hours again of unpaid work. Very frustrating. This is not how I saw my day going …
Edit:
No, I won’t do it manually, I just don’t have the time now. I will roll back everything to the previous version. If that doesn’t work I’m done with HA. The previous Alexa integration was fantastic - easy to use and easy to understand. Why did you destroy that and replaced it with this unusable crappy UI?
Going back to the previous version went ok but ESPHome is now empty - no devices anymore. And I had dozens of them. Also Code Server can not find any yaml configuration anymore - all empty.
HA is a lemon and I want my money back …
The MariaDB 2.6.0 update appeared for me yesterday (I’ve not yet installed 2023.5.0) and yes, it took ages here too - probably 20 minutes or thereabouts on my RPi4. Worked ok in the end, though and whatever it was doing was pre-startup as, once installed, it started up in 7 seconds.
same here…
Love to use Voice Assistant but there’s little to NO documentation on how to get a usb mic to work in HA… VERY frustrating.
Hey Sam,
Thank you for the reply. I did that, tried to shutdown the PC running the HA Docker, rebooted it number of time, removed the dongle etc but it is still not working. I’ve saw some other errors in the log …
homeassistant.config_entries.OperationNotAllowed: The config entry SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2, s/n: 20220712155050 - ITEAD (zha) with entry_id e0027f242d207babed50b1459f28cf6a cannot be setup because is already loaded in the ConfigEntryState.SETUP_ERROR state
In addition to that it would be interesting to see how we can use the Google Nests around the house and the HA app on our mobiles. Maybe this is common knowledge but I haven’t seen anything - I’m at the beginning of the voice journey.
My HA instance runs on a KVM VM in a rack in the laundry so having a mic on that instance wouldn’t be useful for my use case hence the question on whether we can take advantage of the existing infrastructure.
Having said that what’s possible today is very impressive (saw last week’s voice stream)
Exclude option in history is deprecated is in my log.
How should we exclude then in history?
How much did you pay for it?!
But I feel his pain… I can’t even get an answer how to make a USB mic work with HA
you could try and update the firmware on the sonoff (its pretty easy) - maybe its outdated?
I’ve heard both of the speakers on mine ‘pop’ once, so I am fearing it is broken. Maybe ESPHOME wasn’t ready - I’ve read that using mic/speakers cannot happen simultaneously.
Its not really a big deal as they are fun, the green color is good feedback, but the m5 is not ‘usable’ in real life to me. I’d rather have a cool phone until hotword works
easy lemonade recipe: Rollback your HA to a backup - disable updates, and never come to the forums again
Seven-and-a-half bucks a month. Not to mention that while I have to fiddle unplanned with HA for hours now I wont be available for my daytime job (my own company).
But that was just a sarcastic hit on the famous Meat Loaf song … but anyway, my system is a desaster after todays update. The second time where everything went south after an update (9.5 to 10 and now todays update). My max frustration level has been reached now.
I don’t like your attitude,
however I might have a solution for you.
this can happen after restoring a backup,
a full restart fixes this issue. not sure how but it happened to me in the past
