2023.6: Network storage, favorite light colors, new integrations dashboard

I’m using old synology nas for storing Documents, photos, videos and all important memories… With 4 discs in raid I have enough space, I don’t need any special features that offer new nas. But have possibility to share content on TV would be great. Currently I’m using dlna nas feature, but thats failing a lot on that old nas.

I am not sure you are using 2023.6.x.
At least not the latest Frontend…

What version of ha are you using?

No - I am a dork as suspected - I just needed to refresh the page!!

sort of, I get it with one sensor that says “no statistics are available” until I click more data and the full graph loads up fine. I suspected it was due to changing the case in my UOM, which I know UOM changes can mess with statistics, but it continued after deleting and recreating the template sensor under a new name.

This reminds me that a little more whitespace was helpful for the eyes before, compared to the very condensed look now. And I really miss the direct links to the entities from that view as well.

My older Netgear NAS is only using SMB1.0 and is never turned on any more. I have recently added an SSD enclosure to my TPLink router via USB and this provides a Samba share to my network. I have tried adding this as a NAS drive but no luck so far. Has anyone else managed to add a router attached drive to HA as a NAS ?

Would be great to see an improvement in backup service. Add ‘keep days’ to it. So when you create backups every day and now with new ‘network drive’ option in ha 2023.6.1 will this a great tool.

The keep_day will delete all old backups so your’e network drive won’t get full of backups.

+1 to that, its all very tiny and crowded to my ‘older’ eyes… I guess our age tends to be forgotten. not sharp enough to (be able to) appreciate that crammed a view, and not ‘impaired’ so the accessibility rules would apply. that is purely on the looks.

when getting around to actually using this, I keep getting frustrated I can not easily find a direct entry to delete a mobile_app device (required when the app has once again auto banned my phone, and I need to rename it…), or eg a Esphome device. cant hop from integration to add-on…

for me this is a looks first-change, and I have a hard time appreciating that, even though I do like the fact its more stable.

otoh, a single red card or other colored top border alert throw the whole line off again, so its still not ‘fixed’. But better it is in that regard.

btw, noticed a nice detail: when disabling debug, it auto downloads the debug file, thats cool. Is that new? never noticed it before

what would make my day is when all attention required integrations would be top listed. as it stands we need to scroll a heck of a lot, especially when on mobile, when a lower alphabetized integration is having issues.
or add a selector for that here:

btw, if only entities live in that integration card, you will have the direct entry, see the Airvisual card. otherwise, it’s the 1-click-extra yet again…

Re-run Home Assistant Supervised Debian Package:
wget https://github.com/home-assistant/supervised-installer/releases/latest/download/homeassistant-supervised.deb
dpkg -i homeassistant-supervised.deb

Actually I am unsure whether its that or the os-agent that needs updating.

for me it worked after both. First updated agent to 1.5.1 and then rerun install supervised. Now network storage is compatible.

But my sound still does not work… :frowning:

rhasspy also shuts up

Did 2023.6 update kill HA for anyone else?
I have Raspberry Pi 3B+.

Performing the update it does not boot up anymore.
I luckily have SSH enabled so I can still SSH into the device, but HA is dead.

Wonderful update feature-wise, but for some reason my HA instance became a lot less responsive after installing it! I notice screens in a loading state that I absolutely never saw before. Sometimes I find myself hard refreshing the page because it takes so long (it doesn’t help). After a while the data comes through, but it just feels sluggish.

Anyone else experiencing this?

This is on a Tinkerboard with data stored on MariaDB (on a Synology NAS).

Check your cpu and memory stats

If you have high cpu usage, capture a callgrind file with the profiler.start service (see the profiler integration docs). Also capture a py-spy recording Instructions to install Py-spy on HAOS

If you have high memory usage you can use the profiler.start_log_objects service to see if something is leaking python objects.

And now for a wild guess: The current images include python 3.11.3 which has some problems leaking ssl objects with some web servers (won’t happen to everyone). cpython 3.11.4 fixes the issue but the docker images were built before it was released so it wasn’t available at the time of the release

I run HA on a Pi4 with HAOS and supervised on a Pi 3B+. The Pi 3B+ updated but I found that Supervisor was not working after. Rebooting the Pi made no difference, I managed to rollback to 2023.5.4 as I still had access to HA.

Can you run the rollback via SSH ?

Regarding the new “Integrations” page:
a small observation about these “custom” & “cloud” badges.

No problem here updating my RPi 3B+ to HAOS 2023.6.1. I know that doesn’t help solve your problem, but at least you know it is possible. With SSH at least the HA Core commands are available.

Anyone know if it’s possible to reference the “share” mount point in configuration.yaml?

I see something like this has been asked before:

I mounted a share as “HALogFiles” and it shows up in the file editor in HA as a subdirectory under the directory called “share” which is at the same level as “config.”

I’d like to define a file in this directory as the destination for a notify: in configuration.yaml. I started with something like this:

notify:
  - platform: file
    name: testlogfile
    filename: share/HALogFile/testlogfile.txt

I get an error because HA prefixes it with “config” to become
/config/share/HALogFiles/testlogfile.txt

Is there a way to tell HA to look in share instead of config?
