Nfs server logs?
HA logs?
Nfs server logs?
HA logs?
/volume1/movies
?
This is exactly what’s going on. Figure out why the version mismatch on smb ant this will probably start working. Probably settings or software version on the server end. (it’s probably still allowing SMB 1.0)
There’s nothing in the Synology NAS logs regarding failed connections, only successful connections from me logging into it when I was checking the settings etc.
And the max?
I just found where I could create a permission for NFS connections to that folder and managed to get it to work that way, but the issue I have here is that this is for all subfolders under /volume1/homes and not just giving HA access to /volume1/homes/homeassistant which is what I would prefer.
At least it’s a working connection I guess.
It was screaming auth problem somehow. I’m glad you have at least that. Nice.
I see below you got it working with NFS, but I’m surprised you don’t have SMB3 as a choice.
Which Synology model do you have and which version of DSM ( Control Panel, Info Center)? SMB3 isn’t really new and likely used by Home Assistant to connect, with no option to use an older version

It’s a DS218+ running on DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 7.
Funnily enough it was stating ‘up to date’ so I hadn’t looked into it further, however I just found that there is actually an update available. I’ll see how that goes…
EDIT: update to DSM 7 done and now I am able to select SMB3. I’ll try the remote storage setup in HA again and see how it goes.
EDIT 2: updating the NAS to DSM 7 has broken my storage connections in HA… will need to do more investigating.
EDIT 3: A restart of HA seems to have fixed it.
Keep us posted
You should be able to update at least to the latest 7.1 Build by checking for more updates.
7.1 => 7.2 was a manual upgrade on my ds416play, download DSM manually from Synology Download Center and then use Manual DSM update-Button
Also look for updates to SMB Service in the Package Center
I’m now on 7.1 and SMB was updated to the latest available (4.15.9-0642)
