A Home-Approved Dashboard chapter 1: Drag-and-drop, Sections view, and a new grid system design!

Anyone know which theme this is in the postā€™s screenshot?

Could you release this or help us get this theme? It looks so much better than the default UI. Is it a theme?? Please :open_mouth:

@mtrista That is the ā€œSectionsā€ view and the it is showing cards that have been converted to the new standard. Read the whole orginal post about the new ā€œSectionsā€ view.

As mentioned that new Sections view is still experimental but you can try it out and how-to do so is covered by that post above at the top.

If it is still unclear then I suggest you follow some of the many guide videos already available on YouTube:

I meant the theme, I already knew about the sections view and using them right now. I do appreciate the help though. Apparently the theme Iā€™m talking about is a proof of concept from @madelena and isnā€™t available anywhere yet

Is it possible to delete badges or buttons that are added to a section? I can see where to delete a whole section, but if I add a button by accident or add a badge at the top, I donā€™t see a way to just remove that element.

The three dots in the above right corner when you select a card.

Oh interesting - every theme I was using was making that small 3-dot menu almost invisible. Switched to ā€œno themeā€ and itā€™s clearly right there Thank you!

Is it possible to outline sections with a border or add a grey background to each section, so that the secions are also recognized as sections (like in the old mansory view for each card).

I we were capable to ā€œoutlineā€ the section and/or have a dedicated background, this could be an alternative to stacking card to group some cards together.

I wish we could modify the number of ā€œspacesā€ in a section. By default we are presented with 4 slots, from which we select the desired width. But letā€™s say I want to place 3 buttons side by side in a section. I am only able to place 1 big button, or 2 normal buttons or 4 tiny buttons, but not able to add 3. Sections should have a parameter of max slots.

I want a section that looks like this:

Only solution I found to that is to add a grid card with three columns.
At the moment I canā€™t even get four tiles next to each other.

We are currently working on a solution to provide more resizing precision to handle this type of issue.

Any way to increase the columns on the Google Nest Hub from 2 columns to 3?

On the latest version of the HA Companion App, there is a new setting to change the page zoom level. Reducing the level will allow you to show more columns on the screen.
