Ideally, you want a strong mesh where different routers are connected to each other.
I have no idea of recommended distances.

test it
(consensus seems to be that without an external aerial, youāll struggle to get much more than 30m line of sight.)
Again, it depends on the range. Given they donāt have an external aerial, and probably suffer a little from shielding and mains hum, you might find the donāt do much more than 15m. test it
Officially, its unlimited (at a protocol level). However, most implementations have limits - Iāve seen suggestions that 15 is resonable. Each hop will add a little latency as well.
Also take a look at https://www.control4.com/docs/product/zigbee/best-practices/english/latest//zigbee-best-practices-rev-d.pdf
Fantastic! Given that my house length (end to end) is 17 meters, I think I should be fine. But, like you suggested, I will keep testing it as we move along.
Hello,
Any idea how to make a Xiaomi Honeywell smoke sensor to connect to a repeater?
In the same room where the smoke sensor is, I have one aqara light and Ikea ZigBee repeater.
The next step is to install also a Xiaomi ZigBee socket but there is already one between router (Conbee2) and smoke sensor.
LE: can I use cc2531 ZigBee stick as a repeater for Conbee2 gateway?
If flashed with the router firmware : yes.
Anyone found a way to pair automatically Aqara sensor to the best coordinator/router?
Have you tested new T1 version of AQARA?
So my primary Zigbee coordinator is a zzh! CC2652R and Iāve got 4 Aqara sensors (water, 2x door, 1x temp)
I just bought these Innr Zigbee Smart Plugs to help extend the range in my space as itās much larger however I cannot get my Aqara sensors to connect.
In reading through the thread, I tried re-pairing even adding device directly through the smart plugs but no diceā¦does Innr for some reason not play well with Aqara?
Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
@xFlawless11x I have some innr SP120 smart plugs and I see Aqara door/window and also temp/humidity sensors connected to them. But Iāve read that Aqara can be picky regarding routers, donāt know if the SP224 behave differently than the SP120.
Might be worth to try replacing an innr with an Aqara smart plug to see if it changes anything.
Also make sure your sensors batteries are in good shape.
CC2652/CC1352 based Zigbee Coordiantor and Router with latest Z-Stack firmware make it a bit better

Other than upstream bug-fixes from manufacturer it contains a specific fix for Aqara/Xiaomi E1 devices:
Donāt know about Innr specifically but Xiaomi/Aqara are known to have issues, and know that Innr is probably not manufacturing themselves but instead rebranding an OEM/ODM device from others. See:
Regardless of Zigbee Coordinator adapter type or Zigbee implementation recommend follow these tips:

Thanks! All my sensors have >70% battery remaining still. Iām going to pick up one of the Ikea connectors as the Aqara smart plug isnāt available on Amazon right now.
Thank you for the detailed information! Iāll read through this and try out some other devices to look for a better connection.
I am using 2 of these IKEA repeaters and a cc2531 flashed with the router firmware.
Very, very happy with them.
i have 2 Amazon echo 4th gen. They have zigbee integrated. is it possible to use them as zha routers?
here my mesh that i am proud of:
No, they have configured a Zigbee Coordinator and can not be used as Zigbee Router. Their Zigbee functions can not be used with ZHA directly or be added to ZHAās Zigbee network in anyway, (or any other Zigbee implementation like Zigbee2MQTT or other Zigbee hub/gateway for same reason as can only have one Zigbee Coordinator per network).
You can only add them via the Amazon Alexa integration which is at a higher level that has nothing to do with Zigbee ā Amazon Alexa - Home Assistant
I just wanted to ask whether the Sonoff SlampherR2 WiFi acts as a range extender too. Newbie here, please bear with me
This topic is on Zigbeeā¦why would a wifi lamp serve as a zigbee device?
I mentioned I am a newbie and asked folks to bear with me. This was not a constructive reply so please slow down.
Also, it was not a Wi-Fi lamp but rather a Wi-Fi socket for lamps.
Anyway. do you have any suggestion for a Zigbee device similar to the one I asked about?
Obviously, only Zigbee devices can work as Zigbee Router (a.k.a. Zigbee repeater / range extender).
Specifically, only mains-powered Zigbee devices loaded with firmware configured as āZigbee Routerā.
Personally recommend buying an āIKEA TrĆ„dfri Signal Repeaterā for each floor/area to build a baseline.
PS: I updated my pull request ā https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant.io/pull/18864
The topic seems clear from the titleā¦anywho
If you have a zigbee network setup (with or without above mentioned wifi network) then you can find plenty of devices
