Ambient Weather available locally now. Integration anyone?

I need an assist here. I have the add-on and the integration installed but I can’t for the life of me find that Advanced Settings screen from the very first post. I have a WS-2000 on firmware 1.9.0 and running AWN version 4.4.5 on iPhone. I’ve also tried locating it at ambientweather.net with no luck.

Edit
I just realized that the AWN app isn’t the same as awnet app. I installed the awnet app but the WS-2000 isn’t an available option.

I get there via the “awnet” app on my iPhone → Click on the device → Next (past the AmbientWeather setting) → Next (past the Wunderground setting) → Next (past the Weathercloud setting). Then fill out the info for the Customized setting.

I just installed that app and I can’t click on the device because I haven’t added it yet but it also doesn’t give me a choice of adding the WS-2000. This is all it shows.

The console says it’s on Wi-Fi firmware AMBWeather V 4.0.2, not sure if that’s the issue.

What happens if you click on that top image then press Next?

It tells me to hold down two buttons on the console that the WS-2000 doesn’t have so that it starts broadcasting a Wi-Fi network.

Ahh, well then sorry but I don’t know how to help. My understanding is that it’s the console that receives the raw weather station data and sends it via WiFi to the Ambient website and to this integration.

I believe there are methods for grabbing the raw weather station data, but I don’t believe this integration is designed to do that.

That’s exactly what this is supposed to do. I already have the cloud based service running and I’m trying to switch over to local, that’s what this thread is about.

What is currently sending your data to the cloud? If not a console of some type, then what?

The console is connected to my Wi-Fi and uploading directly to Ambient Weather and Wunderground. I’m trying to establish a local webserver, which is what this thread is about, so HA can communicate with the console locally and not be cloud dependant.

I have a WS-2000 and can’t connect the app and can’t find this on the console. Could you guide me through the menus where you found it.

Totally understood. And sorry, I’m not experienced with the WS-2000. But the key is the settings in that console. If you go through the menu choices in the console itself, can you find a network setting for “Customized” where you can set a local address (mine is set to to same IP address as Home Assistant and the Port set to 7080) instead of to Ambient Weather and Wunderground?

No. The weather server menu is locked to WeatherUnderground

Anyone else have trouble with this because of the lack of AWNET app support for the WS2000/WS-5000 I found a solution. Install the WSView Plus app. This will allow you to update the Wi-Fi firmware and setup the custom webserver.

Still not getting data into HA though. Here’s the log for HWNET to HASSS and here’s the custom webserver setup.

Glad you got it sorted out!

Well almost. Still not getting data.

Anyone have any insight based of the settings I posted above as to why I’m still not able to poll the data?

Thanks for this write up! Good summary of what to do. However, I’m still having an issue and I think it’s with the integration install. I’m never presented with an opportunity to configure the integration with the MAC address and name during install from the interface. Upon install from hacs, it jumps immediately to a notification to restart. When I go in to developer tools and try to call up the service, it doesn’t appear to be installed. Im a yaml noob, but not afraid to dig in. What am I doing wrong here? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey I know this is like 6 months old but did you ever get this working? I also see the data coming through in the verbose log so my weather station is uploading data to Home Assistant, and my MQTT server is seeing the connection from AmbientWeather2MQTT, but I never see any devices populate…

Hey not sure if you figured this out but your “path” should be “/data/?” or “/?” (I’m using “/data/?” but I see other instructions say “/?” so I don’t want to contradict). The “/” (slash) is important.

For my awnet device ambient weather sends extra data at the end that confuses the addon. The author hasn’t reviewed my last github response. I made a hack, but it only seems to work once so it is practical.
