Amcrest video doorbell AD110 initial impressions

Anyone experience this issue with the Dahua integration and the AD110? I have Frigate and the default amcrest integration working just fine, just not sure why the Dahua one won’t work…

Which HA core version? If core-2022.7.x the answer is simple: Core 2022.7 “breaks integration”

Ah ok, I also use core version 2022.6.7 but I have no problems.

Are there any error messages in the log?

This error originated from a custom integration.

Sorry, I only know this snapshot.cgi error https://github.com/rroller/dahua/issues/197 with my AD110, but the camera let itself be integrated with the Dahua integration.

Any chance anyone has done this firmware update? I don’t often use the Amcrest Smart Home App so it’s possible it’s been available for awhile. I just didn’t want to risk having issues as a previous update broke motion detection and what not awhile back.

Yep, I updated my AD110. The only thing I noticed was the WDR option was restored in the SH app. It was there from the beginning, but the previous update had removed it. You can set a WDR range (1-5) or turn it off, same same as it used to be.

What’s not good though is that the video is considerably brightened, and colors washed out somewhat. This appears to be a WDR effect on a high setting. I haven’t been able to change it via the app with either lower settings or turning WDR off.

I will try soon to see if adjustments via the API will work, but haven’t got around to it yet. This is a seldom used doorbell at a vacation home. My primary AD410 doorbell is still on the original factory delivered firmware and has not seen any update notice, although you can ask Amcrest for an update. I haven’t installed it because they won’t provide any release notes as to what changed.

Edit: I found that this issue had been mentioned by others here: AD110 update, picture washed out - Amcrest Forum

Thank you, this is exactly the type of information I was looking for. I have been somewhat out of the loop on some of the stuff I used to keep up on.

@Bartem - I’ve done some more research into the WDR API config changes for the AD110. My findings are posted in the Amcrest forum, here:

Found another issue with the latest AD110 firmware update. My motion detection automations are triggering on “AlarmLocal” events but now I’m getting a lot of false triggers during the afternoon in Home Assistant (but NOT SmartHome). This used to be a reasonably reliable motion indicator when the PIR detects heat changes in contrast to the VideoMotion event which is any significant pixel change in the detection area.

Now I’m seeing one AlarmLocal event after another in the afternoon sun (maybe shadows?) and no associated VideoMotion. (They used to appear in tandem).

My workaround is to now trigger on the SmartHome specific “ProfileAlarmTransmit” event. This is the event that occurs to signal SmartHome to send a motion detected push notification and record locally which so far is behaving normally. (Note: if you disable notifications in SmartHome app, this event probably won’t occur).

Update: after monitoring all events for the past 17 hours, an interesting change occurred. From 2PM until 3:30PM there was nothing but AlarmLocal events every minute or so. Then no events occurred for an hour+, followed by a profuse number of VIdeoMotion events from 4:45PM until 8AM this morning. Keying on either AlarmLocal or VideoMotion events for motion notification is useless - at least on my AD110 with this new firmware. Again, SmartHome app did not send any notices so ProfileAlarmTransmit is the way to go - (or revert to previous version or better yet - get an AD410 and use Human Detection)

OK, I am a little confused. I am new with HA and trying to catch up. I have a AD110 doorbell. I am running HA OS on a Dell 3050 I5 7500. Currently, al I want is motion detection event in HA. I use Blue Iris for video.
Do I need the MQTT method or can I use a direct automation (preferred).?
Does the AD110 support human detection?
Where do I begin to add this?
Is this link valid?

Hey garyk4 -

No, you don’t need MQTT.

Amcrest core integration has built in motion detection “pixel change” sensor, but it’s lousy for the AD110 (way too many false alerts). There is a companion motion detection method that is triggered by the PIR that should be used instead. You have to trigger on AlarmLocal events for PIR motion alerts. Refer to this post: Amcrest video doorbell AD110 initial impressions - #301 by GaryOkie

No, the AD110 does not support human detection. The AD410 does.

Yes, the Amcrest integration link is valid, and that’s where you start.

Is this still working on your end? I’m having trouble getting this to work.

An option for the AD110 indicator ring light was added to the Amcrest integration “control_light: true” to turn on the light if motion or audio detected, turn if off if not. That’s all it can do.

I replaced my AD110 with an AD410 and removed that code, so I can’t confirm if the curl switches still work or not. If I get a chance, I’ll add it back to see if it works for the AD410 ring light.

Just saw an update on the Amcrest forum that the bug introduced in the most recent AD110 firmware that broke events has been fixed - BUT only in a beta release.

You will need to contact Amcrest Support to request this beta firmware. In addition to fixing events with HA, this new version fixes Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) that has been reported by others to be a big improvement in image quality.

UPDATE 1/17/2023: AD110 firmware now out of beta and available to download and install via configtool. I’ve installed it and can confirm it works with HA.

Hello,
can I make an audio connection with the AD110? A 2-way connection? I hear the voice on the speaker of the AD110 and the voice on the end device (VLC or in the browser)?
Greetings from Stefan

Just use frigate!

Came here to see if anyone ever got audio working for ad110. maybe its time to upgrade to the 410 and move the 110 to the back

Hello, did you get it working with AD110? Can you establish a 2-way audio connection via Frigate? Do you have any instructions for me?

Guys I`ve been using AD110 for more than 2 years with HA and amcrest2mqtt docker, no issue at all.

Some time ago the doorbell stopped makinf door bell sound when I press the button. There is no sound outside comming from the doorbell and no sound from the mechanical bell inside.

I have tried to factory reset the bell but did not help.

any idea? I did send some commands from internet some time ago in attempt to block some pihole commands, do not remember what and where. Maybe not related.

Is there some command for factory reset? any idea what could be the issue?
