Aqara zigbee temperature sensors unavailable

I bought 2x aqara zigbee temperature sensors recently. I connected them directly with a con bee II stick via ZHA.

Both have the same issue. I am able to pair them successfully but after a while, they just become unavailable. I cannot do anything except deleting them and reconnecting them… until it happen again.

Any ideas why?

If not, can you provide some alternatives to these sensors that are reliable?

Although not a home-assistant topic, this is an interesting read:

Aqara/Xiaomi and Tuya sensors are infamously known for connection problems and many more issues.

Start buy update the Zigbee Coordinator( ConBee) firmware and add a long USB extension cable to it.

Then try following general tips → https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant.io/pull/18864

I had similar problems with these devices, I found that adding them to an mains powered device rather than the conbee worked for me. In one case a temp sensor in the bathroom was connected to a tradfri extender I bought and this cured the problem. But keep trying to connect them in different ways and always removed them from ZHA rather than reconnect, in some instances the problem is with the set up of the device.

Do these devices have any firmware updates when using a xiaomi gateway? Could updates improve connectivity?

Can also download them manually and update via ZHA using OTA but not sure if help known issues(?):

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#ota-firmware-updates

" Note that the otau_directory setting is optional and can be used for any firmware files you have downloaded yourself, for any device type and manufacturer. … and added to the otau_directory can be flashed, although a manual zha.issue_zigbee_cluster_command command currently (as of 2021.3.3) must be issued against the IEEE of the Philips Hue device under Developer Tools->Services"

Most however reported improvements from updating ConBee Zigbee Coordiantor firmware using OTW:

And as mentioned, connect ConBee via a long USB cable and add more Zigbee Router devices, ex:

PS: For reference know that “Aqara” and “Xiaomi” Zigbee devices are the same under different brands.

I have many Aqara window/door-sensors and also six Aqara temperature/humidity-sensors.
None of them has disconnected or dropped off my Zigbee-network.
(I’m using a CC2652P coordinator on a USB-extension cable on a mini-PC together with Zigbee2MQTT and HomeAssistant OS)

Good advices, especially the long USB extender cable.
My Aqara devices (have vibration/door/temp) are stable, and have always been. Adding them to the network I always use a mains close to the spot. I have a number of Aqara plugs I always use, and the sensors are stady and always connected to the same plug. Remember to connect the sensor at the final place, as they do roam very badly.

Thank you everyone for the good advises! I will update my conbee stick, read the links you provided and let you know.

I’ve had mine drop off the network, but pressing the button on the back brings it back to life.
