Ok, what have I done? My GPS no longer updates since an app update yesterday morning. Still has me away somewhere. I have tried removing myself from known devices, tried clearing the app cache, have tried uninstalling and the reinstalling, all still have me in the same location. The tracker on my wife’s phone works just fine

Send me the logs so i can check it up and see if Ariela provides updates to HA. Thank you.

Is bluetooth device location not working only for me?
So I’ve setup Bluetooth Headphone MQTT sensor (hfp) in Ariela to send MQTT message when new bluetooth device si connected/disconnected.
And indeed, when device is connected or disconnected, it sends mqtt. But according to this:
http://ariela.surodev.com/2019/03/12/find-my-car/ it should also sent gps coordinates, and it doesn’t.
I did a little workaround in node red to check if message contains coordinates, and if not get current one from owntracks, add them to payload and then update device location
But would prefer to avoid this if possible.
mqtt1

Done. Thanks mate

Do you have GPS active in the phone? Ariela will not send any coordinates if it can’t receive the location. Also please check that Ariela has location permission granted.

@Eatoff

I replied over email. You do not have any update method selected. Use device tracker see service in order to update as previous, or use mobile app update in order to send using mobile app.

Note that mobile app will going to update device tracker position even if Ariela is not running so i recommend using that. Also if you choose mobile app, its possible that a new device tracker entity has been created. Please let me know if works

Yes, location is enabled and Ariela has permissions.
In app location seems to work fine (i can see Ariela app sensor in home assistant and it shows my current location) and other apps (like owntracks) see current location with no problem

Hello,

I have try but it doesnt work : i arrive at my grage door, was connected to my wifi (same enable in Ariela) and i am “away”, no change.

I have to enable “device traker” to make it work.

But it seems to load my battery a lot, even if i choose “wifi” option.

Any idea? Does i have to enable Device Tracker for enable the option “Ariela will automaticly put At Home when your are connect to the wifi in the list”?

Update : i have undestand… : when i am connected to wifi, ha recognize the network provider in another town…far away 80 kms…he put my phone there on the map. And my home are the coordinates i have input in my config…so its normal that i am put “away,”.

Is there a something i can do?

Sorry for my bad english, hope you have understand

Thanks

Works now, thanks for the help. Good to hear about the updates without the app running, I didn’t know that.

Yes, that is correct. HA will only put you home when you are connected to a home wifi or GPS coordinates matches the ones from zone.home. Else, you are away

@Ionut Would it be possible to get something to accept use of self signed certs (and not mention it again)?

I use SSL using the internal/external IP feature, and its not possible to get a proper cert for an internal hostname, and I need to accept the self signed cert multiple times per day. External hostname is a proper letsencrypt one.

Yes, this will be available on next release

Any further progress been made on RTT?

Had to work on different things and put it on hold for the moment.

Yes but is there a solution to change the coordinates give buy the internet provider for wifi in HA?

Because change my home coordinate to the another place detect by wifi (internet provider) to have the status “at home” is no really interesting…the map positioning will be false.

Or can had a zone “zone.wifi” who match the wifi internet provider and ad this zone in a group home?

Dont sure what i am saying is very clear…

Nope, is not that clear. Can you explain this a bit?

Hi Ionuț, here is my feedback on this topic. I have enabled mobile app in HA, and location is only updated when see service is enabled. On top, battery drains like hell now, more than 30% used by Ariela, before that was few percentages. I’m tempted to go back to old configuration, is there anything I can do to make the location update correctly and reduce the battery drain?

Can you tell me which Ariela version you have?

I use the latest version, 1.3.4.3
