UPDATE! Latest release notes mention this and links to that scheduled announcement video:

FYI, the latest Open Home Foundation newsletter also included a statement that some new official hardware will be announced on the 19th of November via a livestream on YouTube → Drawing the line on privacy

  • we’d like to give you a heads-up that on the 19th of November, we’ll be announcing the next official hardware from Home Assistant. Make sure you’re subscribed to our Youtube channel so you don’t miss the notification for the launch livestream!”

Even full changelog for Home Assistant 2025.11/10 contain several changes mentioning “ZBT-2”:

My guess is that the Open Home Foundation and Nabu Casa will probably be announcing their upcoming “Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2” as official Zigbee/Thread USB adapter as it is no longer a secret that they been working hard on the software parts for smooth onboarding and easy migration of ”Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2” → Frient joins Works with Home Assistant - #3 by Hedda

If it is the ZBT2 adapter then I suggest buying two if want to use them for both Zigbee and Thread, since you really want to use seperate adapters for Zigbee and Thread, and maybe even a few more to use to use as dedicated Zigbee Router devices (Zigbee repeaters) for an optimized setup → Zigbee network optimization: a how-to guide for avoiding radio frequency interference + adding Zigbee Router devices (repeaters/extenders) to get a stable Zigbee network mesh with best possible range and coverage by fully utilizing Zigbee mesh networking

The main follow-up question I will have is if can also use more than one as a Thread Border Router as the Matter standard supports having multiple Thread Border Routers but do not think the OpenThread Border Router (OTBR) integration support that yet(?) → Open Thread Border Router - Home Assistant
