Nice. I just had few outdoor outlets installed. If those Sonoffs ever get certified it should be a cinch to swap over. I will go with my original plan of a smart plug in a wall mount polycarbonate IP65 enclosure for now though.
Hey mate, which firmware file do you flash to this?
Slowly figuring this all out…
See the table here:
The device in question falls under the GBAN GB2530 heading.
Thanks got it working!
Hi,
First post here.
I discovered HA by chance a few days ago and borrowed a 3B+ from Octoprint duty and flashed Hass.io.
Extremely impressed.
I already had three Brilliant Smart Plugs which I had registered with the Tuya app and updated the firmware so I presume that I will have to pull them apart to flash them via serial with tuya-convert.
I bought a couple more from Bunnings yesterday ($15 each) and followed the excellent cookbook prepared by @cryptelli and flashed ESPHome with no problems. (Thanks @cryptelli !) The only issue was that the curl command needed to be changed to “flash3” from “flashURL”.
I can confirm that these are labelled “SMWWYY” as previously noted.
To anyone who has pulled them apart to do a serial flash - can you get them open without significant cosmetic damage? I’d be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
Thanks.
Glad you found it helpful, checking the commit history on tuya-convert
it seems they changed the URL as you stated, good working in solving that yourself.
I’ve done it with one of mine that I accidentally bricked. Use a thin blade to pop out the two plugs at bottom on the rear. The only cosmetic damage which might be encountered is trying to separate the two halves, for this I used a plastic spudger and slid it between the casing to release the hidden clips, which left no marks whatsoever.
OK Thanks,
I’d already removed the two screws and eased a knife blade between the case but then thought I might wait for some advice. I’ll poke around and see if I can find the hidden clips.
start_flash.sh suggests a few curl commands, so that was an easy fix.
Thanks for the assistance.
Hi
Has anyone tried these wall outlets that are tasmota compatible (also google and alexa but I am not interested in those) https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/WIFI-Wall-Socket-Mobile-APP-smart_62205204510.html? It says in the listing that they are SAA and C-Tick certified. There is a picture of the SAA compliance certificate but not the C-Tick. Is C-Tick even necessary for a wall outlet?
Interestingly the SAA site has no records I can find of such approvals.
http://www.saaapprovals.com.au/certified-product-approvals-register/
Nor does the Alibaba site actually allow you to download them, they are merely fuzzy images. Clear enough to see the approval numbers, but as I say I can’t find them in SAA’s search engine.
I sent them a question about the certification. I’ll post their reply when I receive it.
A search of the cert number shows it having been listed on a NZ site, but as Nick said the SAA site doesn’t list that cert…
I wonder if the cert was subsequently cancelled? Not sure if SAA would still list it or not but show it having been cancelled?
So this is the reply I got from the supplier:
GMA-504473-EA GMA-504470-EA these two number are approval number for wifi switch and wifi socket, please check on GMA website.
(Sorry, being a new user I could only post one page of the cert)
I am not sure how to check the authenticity on the global mark website. What are people’s opinions on purchasing these for use in Australia?
!Why on earth they don’t just supply the pdf’s is an effing mystery.
However this from the global-mark site seems to be the one that mentions this model
And here is the standard https://shop.standards.govt.nz/catalog/3112:2017(AS|NZS)/scope?
It also mentions the need to comply with AS/NZS 3100.
EDIT: that is not the complete standard. The complete standard costs $$.
PS I would be interested to know where you found out they are tasmota compatible. Do you have a reference?
Never mind, found it https://blakadder.github.io/templates/makegood_MG-AUWF01.html
Yes, that was it.
BTW, the supplied did provide me with pdfs, but I am only able to upload jpeg/gif/png.
Hmmm

SAA and Global-Mark are alternative certification agencies.
So, given that the Makegood MG-AUWF01 does seem to have some sort of valid/verifiable certification, does that constitute enough to be considered Electrically Certified for use in Australia?
