I would like to see an auto update feature or a way to make an automation for it (with or without a user intervention).
Currently you can trigger an automation when an update is available but you cant execute the update.
Possibly with the option for add-on updates.
Use case: non technical users (friends and family) with an own setup (hass green for example) who have nothing “special” custom stuff. Or simply users who want to “just update”.

Updating without reading the release notes is a very bad idea.
You must check the backwards incompatible changes list and action any that affect you before updating.

I am aware of that. But it should be a user’s choice. For very simple deployments (12 (hue) lights and a single switch it could be considered “okey”.
Im the one maintaining the system so months fly by without updating before i visit again. Backups are there in case things brake imho

Could it though?
Do you use notifications?
There are big changes coming for that integration at some stage.
Set up remote access.

Until it is allowed, happens, breaks something, and people come back here complaining.
I don’t ever expect to see this.

Closing duplicate of 2 separate WTHs:
HA knows exactly which integrations and configuration I use. There is also a list of breaking changes. So when there is nothing breaking for my config I would want HA to automatically update.
Also AFAIK the extra patch updates following the months first update are never breaking. So they could automatically be installed if the months update is installed.
Of course this should be turned on or off by the user. And backups should be made if you want, which you probably do
