Bonaire MyClimate - Creating a custom integration

Thanks, that’s actually really helpful, can basically apply any combination of settings using a mix of those raw_commands. Really responsive, and thinking like you mentioned before disabling internet access to the unit to avoid updates.

I hope I’m making sense, but I’m trying to parse through the zoneList, and mode to HomeKit as well which would allow me to use the HomeKit app. As it sits (screenshot below), heat/cool with the set temp will turn on both Zone 1 & 2, thermo.

Do you know of anyone else trying to attempt this?

Hi there, I’m considering purchasing The myclimate wifi addon however I noticed in a few places it’s mentioned for heating it’s only compatible with 4, 5 and 6 star heaters however mine is only a 3 star heater. I already have the wired navigator and that works fine but I don’t want to purchase this if it’s not going to work. Does anyone here have a 3 star heater or know if this would work?

I don’t know anything about that to be honest, but I do know that Bonaire released a newer version of the wifi module that hasn’t been tested with my integration, and I am very doubtful that it would work.

Just wanted to give an update, plus provide info for anyone looking to feed through in a similar way. I’ve been able to utilise the script passthrough in the HomeKit integration to achieve the goal in my previous post, see screenshot below.

I haven’t passed all the functions through via the service calls, but only the one’s we use day to day e.g. mode change.

Hi everyone, did anyone have troubles with setting your wifi SSID and password using the my climate app? Any tips for getting it to work?

I recently installed the wifi module (purchased from this link Bonaire MyClimate - Creating a custom integration - #135 by mikz). However I’m having issues getting the bonaire my climate app to work. I’ve been able to get the wifi module to turn on the myclimate wifi network, I’ve connected to the myclimate network and opened the app. But when I try to load the wifi configuration screen, it just hangs. It doesn’t populate the list of SSIDs. I can’t select any of the text boxes and manually enter anything in. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m using a Pixel 2 XL (Android 11) if that means anything. Any tips would be appreciated!

Also, has anyone had any luck trying to manually communicate with the wifi module (using curl commands, etc.)? I’ll try anything.

Hi all,
I have been using this integration for about 1.5 years and it has been fantastic! One of my favourite HA components.
However over the last few days it has stopped working - constant discovery attempt fails. Power cycled and no change. I thought maybe the wifi module had died, but I have factory resetted it and set it up from scratch and it still works with the old bonaire app and appears as a device in my unifi router.
Any other suggestions what I can try? I am desperate to get it working again it was so useful!

Did you recently upgrade/change your wifi access points? Firmware upgrade? I’ve had problems with my UniFi APs being able to forward UDP broadcasts on a particular version.

Second thought, the module will only accept one connection at a time so it won’t work if you still have the app open.

I haven’t changed any hardware but maybe they updated firmware. I moved the wifi module a bit closer to my router and it seems if I force it to connect to the the dream machine rather than the U6 access point (which is closer) then it works! Very odd but seems to suggest that there is an issue with Unifi APs as you suggested… Is there a way to force the forwarding?

Glad you fixed it, I was never able to properly resolve the issue. I rolled back the software on the UAPs and waited a few months for a newer version to be released to test it, but this was probably two years ago so I guess you might be hitting a different bug with the same symptoms.

Hello, I am new to HA but have played around with Arduinos and ESP8266. Has anyone had any luck re-flashing the wifi controller or making their own controller with a ESP8288/ESP32?
From the photo on this thread, it looks like it could be I2C. with software re-flashed it would make controlling the evap from HA a lot easier. (via MQTT or something similar)

Hi, can somebody help me to make my ducted AC/heating system smart? It is a model 301XANG. What do I need to buy? It is a big unit up in the roof space so was hard to get a decent photo. Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask, but there seems to be lots of knowledgeable people here and I couldn’t find anywhere else.

Thanks!

Hi Matt, what does your wall controller look like

Hi Josh,

It is a Vulcan Comfort Control wireless controller.

Thanks for the reply

I’m also interested in this. It would be great to use a custom controller here. Does anyone have any tips about where to get started here, e.g. best ways to intercept communications going between wifi controller and the main control board.

I see four cables going from the wifi controller to the main control board. Doesn’t I2C use 2 cables? I wonder what comms protocols use 4 cables, or if anyone has any idea about the comms protocol that might be in use here.

If its any help the red and black wires are 5V and 0V.

I was hoping it may be 232 or 485 commands between the navigator controller and the unit. Haven’t checked yet though.

May very well be a UAP issue. Trying to set mine up for the first time tonight and it seems unresponsive on the SSID page. Click submit after selecting the network and nothing seems to happen.

Interestingly though after I click submit I lose the MyClimate network, like it is in limbo land as it isn’t discoverable in HA either

Same thing happened to me. Let us know if you figure it out because I gave up so far.

If you can, create a dedicated 2ghz wifi SSID, and connect your phone to the same 2ghz SSID. See how you go.

@BrendanMoran have just started using Home Assistant; very much beginner level here. I would love to be able to integrate MyClimate into Home Assistant. I’ve downloaded your integration via HACS, but I’ve got no idea what to do next to make it work. Can you please explain it to me like I’m 5… haha! I’m assuming there’s some configuration required somewhere to get it to recognise my system, but I really have no idea what I’m doing here! Any help would be appreciated. Anyone else that wants to chip in with assistance too, I’d be very greatful!

Has anyone tried connecting the v2.0 of Bonaire Wifi/Bluetooth module with HomeAssistant?
