Can't add new devices to my zigbee network

Hello.
From some time I have not been able to add new zigbee devices to my network.
I have a coordinator type zStack3x0 and I’m using zigbee2mqtt version 1.40.2
I have 21 devices, all attached to the same coordinator.
The device I’m trying to add is a milliwave ceiling sensor.
I don’t know how to debug this issue or what to do.

I previously had another mwave sensor that I had to unplug because it was flooding my zigbee2mqtt network with messages and it was even slowing down the entire homeassistant instance.

If the problem is the number of devices, will remove some of them solve the issue? Will adding another wired device (like a plug) to act as repeater fix the problem? Or I need a dedicated router?

Thanks in advance

How many router devices do you have?

What is considered a router device? Currently I only have the “controller” as router device.
As I said, I had one tuya mwave sensor, but I had to plug it off because it was flooding the network and making everything slow.

Will sharing my map help?

Router devices are devices that can route zigbee traffic, typically most mains powered devices are and battery powered ones are not.

This is how my map looks now. Not sure why the presence_02 appears there if it is just turned off

Likely you have too few router devices. A couple of bulbs or power switches might help you build a more stable mesh.

I don’t have stability issues. My network is stable, the problem is new devices not joining. How will a router improve that?

It’s not stable / healthy if you cannot add devices. Read this Zigbee network optimization: a how-to guide for avoiding radio frequency interference + adding Zigbee Router devices (repeaters/extenders) to get a stable Zigbee network mesh with best possible range and coverage by fully utilizing Zigbee mesh networking

Just plug these in around the house. I have 12 of them, one or two in each room such that no Zigbee device is more than a couple of meters from a router.

Devices also have a limit of how many they’ll route for, often in the 5-15 range. You’ve probably hit that.

Zigbee is a mesh network, you want plenty of routers.

Can you recommend an EU version?
Will any brand work without config?

I just bought a pack of 4 plugs. Will I be able to connect them? Or will I need to forget some devices before?

I have a similar WiFi plug-in like this; but don’t have yet my Zigbee antenna yet and notice that my HS server is not picking up this device even if its some close to the network. Is it related to this issue?

Absolutely not. Please create your own topic and provide more details than the above post

Which coordinator are you using, and on which firmware?

Some older coordinators could only support 15 direct children, especially on older firmware. This happens to be the exact amount I managed to count on your screenshot, so start with that

Does the zigbee2mqtt provide the firmware details?

Confirmed!

I am not positive because I have always added them to my Zigbee network. But I SUSPECT that all you have to do is plug them in and give the Zigbee Network several minutes to reconfigure itself. If this doesn’t work, go ahead and “forget” one device and add the switch to your Zigbee network, then wait. Progress report would be appreciated.

I got the pack of 4 zigbee devices.
It was surprisingly smooth. I just set the allow to join, as as soon as I plug them in the socket they were discovered and added. I have paired 3 so far.
I pair each one in the same room where I have the receiver, so maybe that has helped.
Then I moved them across the house and tried to re-pair the ceiling sensor that doesn’t want to pair… no sucess.
Not sure if doing the same operation (unplug from the ceiling, and move it to the same room where the receiver is) will help in any way.

Something worth noticing is that when the plugs were “onboarded” I saw a message they were only compliant up until version 21, and that my network has version 22.
There is a firmware update available for them, not sure if that will help in any way, but I’m updating one of them
