Community Hass.io Add-on: Homebridge

Thanks frenck and apologies for the lack of code config.

Appears I needed to add the platform the to the config.json and plugin into the hassio config. It’s loaded both platforms without error now (home assistant and Lifx) but hasn’t picked up any accessories so will keep tinkering.

Thanks again for the quick help

Deprecation warning

:warning: This add-on is in a deprecated state!

At this point it is unsure how long this add-on keeps being available or updated.

This add-on was originally developed to add HomeKit support to Home Assistant. Meanwhile, Home Assistant gained native support for HomeKit.

https://www.home-assistant.io/components/homekit/

Because of this, it is very likely that the plugins this add-on rely on, will no longer be developed or maintained.

We STRONGLY suggest to migrate to the Home Assistant HomeKit component.

As this is now deprecated, I will look to move onto the inbuilt homekit addon. However, this does not seemingly support plugins.

Any idea if you can add them in? I use camera-ffempeg and ‘ZP’ for Sonos.

Thanks

You can’t. Sorry.

oh is sad news, but thank u so much

Is it possible to run the Homebridge add on and also run Home Assistants built in Home Kit on the same HA install? I would like to continue to use Homebridge for the camera plugins.

Yep. That would work.

As mentioned before, the add-on was in a deprecated state because of the uncertain future of the Home Assistant plugin for Homebridge.

Recently this changed. The Home Assistant Plugin for Homebridge has been discontinued and archived. Therefore, as of today, the add-on is removed from the add-on store and no longer available.

Thank you for the support the past year.

For me personal, this add-on has some emotional value, since this was the add-on that got me started on the Hassio add-on development and marks the birth of the Community Hassio Add-ons Project.

Thanks again.

I got questions on Twitter on some whys and the reasoning for closing this topic.

The why as been explained. The add-on always was aimed on bridging Home Assistant and Homebridge. This is now natively added to Home Assistant and therefore obsolete.

The add-on had one advantage above the native solution: Additional plugins. I do realise some people actually use the Homebridge add-on for bridging some other hardware as well.

Therefore, the source code of the add-on is still available. You can fork it on GitHub or simply download the source code into your /addons in Hassio and install it locally. Nevertheless, additional plugins always was a commodity feature and pretty unsupported.

Finally, the closing of the topic. This topic is about the add-on that does not exists anymore and is now unsupported by the Community Add-ons Project. Leaving it open would still intent support and/or might cause confusion over time (when these last message disappear in this big topic).

Nevertheless, this forum is open for everybody, so feel free to open topics in case you need any help on your journey.

Again , and as always, feel free to hop onto our Discord in case you have additional questions.
