Community Highlights: 11th edition

The 11th edition of the Home Assistant Community Highlights! Some interesting things popped up around our community, we thought was worth sharing.

From now on we will also highlight a cool blueprint that we encountered on the Blueprint exchange. Do you want to share something for the next edition? Information on how to share.

Blueprint of the week

Do you have an IP camera in Home Assistant instance and do you no longer want to miss who is at the door? Then you could try the camera snapshot Blueprint from vorion. You can also indicate to which device you would like to receive a notification with a photo. Try it out!

Solar weather station in birdhouse

Spring is approaching, so itā€™s a good time to start building a birdhouse šŸ¦, so why not immediately turn it into a weather station? With the manual from Martin, you can make your own weather (birdhouse) station that works with ESPHome.

Outdoor pathway light

Do you have a garden and do you want to create lighting along the paths? Maybe the garden lighting tutorial from KidA001 will give you some inspiration to get started with this.

PoE powered stack light

Looking for a creative way to display the status of your Home Assistant instance? For example: there is a new Core update, too much RAM is being used or your instance is no longer online? Plenty of options to bind to each color segment.

So let yourself be inspired with the PoE stack light from Karl and start building.

Spring is not approaching. Autumn is.

Given the worldwide audience here, please try and be hemisphere neutral

Thanks for the great Community Highlights posts

You are absolutely right! With all those great outdoor ideas I was completely delighted with spring. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

No problem, us upside-down dwellers are used to it!

But arenā€™t most people from the northern? Not trying to be mean but you canā€™t please both sides, and the northern part being more populated and most referd to.

I guess we should be ruled by the greater population then? My local wizard took an interesting view

His model of the world there we lived on the inside of a globe, and the centre of the globe is where we generally think of as the infinity above us was certainly even more thought provoking

Oh my i knew australia being upside down was a joke i didnā€™t think it was legit xD

You shouldnā€™t be ā€œruled out by the greater populationā€ no, but if they put in ā€œAutumn is approachingā€ lots more people would complain about it being Autumn.

And seeing as the moderator here is Dutch it would also make sense itā€™s spring approaching.

You simply need to say ā€œSpring is approaching those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, so its a good timeā€¦ā€

I donā€™t want to make a big issue of it. So letā€™s concentrate on the another excellent edition of the Community Highlights
