Crash MAJ 206.4.x with rpi 4 and 5

Hello,

Since the April update, my Raspberry Pi (RPI) has been crashing approximately every hour, requiring a manual restart.

When the RPI crashes, it remains pingable, but I lose access to both SSH and the HTTP interface.

I’ve observed that the crash frequency extends to about two hours if I disconnect the Zigbee USB dongle.

I also attempted to migrate my RPI 4 to an RPI 5 by restoring a backup, but the problem persists.

Furthermore, since this update, Node-RED consistently fails to start.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Start by looking in the logs for clues, specifically in the time period before the crash happens.

First read this.

But my with RPi’s its normally sd card or power supply. If you are running on an ssd from USB it will be the USB ports can’t supply enough power to the ssd and zigbee dongle at the same time.

My Raspberry Pi 5 has 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SD card. The only USB port I have is for the Zigbee dongle. I tested with PoE and USB PD. It’s same

Start there.

Before the 2026.4.x upgrade, my RPI4 ran like clockwork.

I downgraded to version 2026.3.2, and the problem is gone. In my opinion, 2026.4.x is definitely buggy.

with my command :

ha core update --version 2026.3.2

But as no one else has found the latest version to be buggy, as far as I know. My money is still on the SD card, especially as it has run like clockwork till now.

I heard rumors that PI’s with the old version of the EEPROM firmware might be having problems with 2026.4.?. I Think there is an issue open about this, not sure.
My guess (At least this is what I would do) is load the piOS on a different SD card, then update the PI’s firmware, then try it again with your HA SD card…

Thank you for your help and the information. Everything is working well in version 2026.3.2, and I haven’t had any more crashes or disconnections. I’m going to try updating the RPI5 EEPROM and I’ll keep you updated.

Having exactly the same problem. tried with first release of 2026.4 today again with 2026.4.4 and same problem.

what I notice is that RAM usage gets higher and higher until the crash
