Creating/Joining Thread Network

Does anyone have any documentation/how to on creating and or joining a thread network with the Open Thread Router/Multi-protocol add-on to HA?

I have a number of google nest devices and ultimately would like to have a single Thread network.

you’re probably looking forward to the 2023.3.x releases then…

read this:
Matter & Thread: where we’re at - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io)

Then specifically - you’ll probably be looking for this when it releases:
2023.3: Beta release notes - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io)

Hi Nathan

Yes already running a beta version and trying to make it work. Thanks

Documentation does not cover any of this.

Do we need to wait for an update to the companion app for android?

Not seeing this notification

Dont usually assume someone’s running a beta, thank you for making it better - Unfortunately then you have probably seen the docs everyone else has  I’ve got a Skyconnect sitting next to my production system just waiting for stability. (and for everyone else to flesh out the documentation…)

So the current Matter integration docs dont show in search but ARE linked here:
Matter - Home Assistant (home-assistant.io) Its got some stuff in there about various fabrics - and I don’t see any good docs about Matter Server yet… I’m a week or so behind on my reading unfortunately.

(Edit - re: companion, I’d bet yes?)

I have some Eve Matter devices setup using both Apple and Nest Thread Border Routers. All seems a bit flaky at this point in time but that has nothing to do with Home Assistant.

Trying to work out if it is the Eve devices of the Thread Border Routers.

I’d bet - both. Still VERY VERY early. I don’t expect this stuff to start stabilizing till the next release. Kevin Tofel (Stacy on IoT podcast) is playing with a lot of the same stuff you are, seems very up to speed with the current happenings with Matter at Eve. He did a writeup on his experiences in December - which may already be dated at the speed of Internet, but there may be some stuff in his adventures that can help?

Thanks Nathan, yes I get the Stacy on IoT newsletter.
