I was so glad to find this integration after my indignant rage at Nissan simply dropping its telemetry support. I am working with a 2019 model here in sunny SoCal - this is my 3rd leaf after my first was written off while saving my family’s life in the UK Peak District. I didn’t know what curtain airbags were until we met an audi 80 on the wrong side of a pitch black blind hill - we were fine the Audi and the dry stone wall not so much - that does a lot for brand loyalty
.
It’s taken a fair few attempts and a lot of reading to get my VEEPEAK brand ODB dongle to show up in the integration - I almost gave up after learning about HACS, ESP home Bluetooth proxy and UUID’s - updating the manifest- and still no_unconfigured_devices. A last long conversation with gemini and use of the excellent file editor ha plugin allowed me to change LOCAL_NAMES = {‘VEEPEAK’} in /homeassistant/custom_components/nissan_leaf_obd_ble/config_flow.py and Bingo! The magic happens.
I was wondering if that discovery step filter on "OBDBLE"‘ might be made more permissive by default (or even after drawing a ‘no_unconfigured_devices’ response) to help out future noobs like me - without mucking up some other aspect of the integration?
Anyway many thanks Mr Butterworth and Co it’s been great to see how the challenge has been met. My next quest is to see if we can hack the Tesla Wall Connector 3 to allow variable rate charging of a non Tesla vehicle - riding the shoulders of another set of HA giants.
All the best,
DJ
