phoscon? yes, i also tried that, i think there is only one way to pair , and thats in phoscon website
so i took a pir xiaomi, removed it from phoscon, then checked vnc if it was really gone, even restarted deconz
then went upstairs, like 5 cm from an ikea smart plug, start pairing/searching, hold 4-5 secs the xiaomi reset button, until it starts flashing…, but it never finds the sensor
if i do the same process again, nearby conbee itself; it works instantly
i have 4 motion xiaomi, i succeed once to pair it with the ikea plug, the other 3 are always failing, they always want/need the conbee it self als link
In my case I paired the Xiaomi motion sensor first with the conbee, as a sensor, works first time. Then I moved the sensor to its final location, started searching for lights in phoscon, pressed the pair button on the Xiaomi device (single press to wake, not a long press to reset), and checked a few minutes later to see it was detecting motion. No need to make any other changes in deconz, phoscon or Hass. I’ve checked in vnc and it is routed via one of the hue light bulbs.
ok, thats a different approach, gonna try that next time
so you search for lights, and not a sensor , strange
but its maybe because hue and xiaomi works maybe better together then ikea and xiaomi
I think the button that starts the Light search in phoscon is a generic ‘ask all existing mesh devices to be open for new nodes that want to connect’ command, so when you begin this process and then press the pair button on the Xiaomi this triggers the Xiaomi to find a ‘better’ mains-powered parent than the one it’s currently connected to.
I think the Xiaomi struggles to find the coordinator via the mesh.
I might be completely wrong but this is my impression.
Is there a way to create a Deconz firmware version sensor?
And then have an automation/script checking against Dresden Electronics if there is a firmware update?
Maybe a feature for the official addon, so one can set a parameter, a sensor is created with state update available (false/true) and attributes; system and new version number)?
This way a notification can be received when its time to update Deconz.
I find that my lights have a soft start dim on / dim off type feel to them when you turn them on and off. I queried this over on the deconz github page and was told its the transition time, but I don’t think I can change any defaults to make the transition time to 0. Aparently there is a secret trick when calling the api to make 0 work.
Hmm, doesn’t help
Logged in phosxon, did search lights, pressed single button on my xiaomi pir sensor… But they stay connected to conbee, even if I took them close like 10 cm to an Ikea plug…
I don’t have any ikea plugs, have you any bulbs nearby that it could pair with?
I can’t remember how many times I pressed the pair button the Xiaomi sensor: don’t do a long press but try a few button presses to keep the device ‘alive’.
There are lots of odd little quirks to zigbee devices, like when I was adding tradfri bulbs I had to make sure phoscon was in search mode before I reset the lights. I didn’t have to do this with hue bulbs.
Edit: I recalled seeing some users having issues with xiaomi devices being fussy about routers they will connect to: https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/1119
This could be a general limitation of the Xiaomi devices and not necessarily a deconz issue. In my case I know the Xiaomi motion sensor is definitely and reliably routed through a hue bulb.
I was experimenting with different frequency settings for the Conbee, but found that for my environment, the default channel 15 was the best.
While returning the channel back to 15, I noticed that one of the Xiaomi temp/humidity sensors had decided to connect to an Ikea range extender. This is the first time I have ever seen one of my Xiaomi sensors pair with something other than the Conbee.
Yes, I know it’s possible… I have 4 xiaomi, one is already connected to an Ikea smart plug , no idea how I did it…but I succeeded once
Already here on 15 channel
I tried switching to channel 11, and found that the Xiaomi sensors could not communicate with the Conbee. (Ikea devices were OK)
I then returned the channel to 15, upon which I noticed that one of the Xiaomi temp sensors had linked to the Ikea range extender. I did not perform any repair processes.
My Conbe//Deconz//HA setup is very reliable since I added powered devices. When I first started out I only had Xiaomi sensors on the network and they would disconnect.
I am adding on average two new devices per week.
I have downlights from 3A Smarthome from Zemismart
I have light bulbs from Ikea.
I have previoiusly had a Hue downlight however found it expensive for what it did so returned it without fully installing into the ceiling.
I have about a dozen Xiaomi sensors including door, vibration, PIR and climate.
My mesh looks like a mess.
I have replaced nearly all my wifi devices with zigbee and could not be happier.
