Did I ruin my new bulbs?

I bought these Innr Zigbee light bulbs and added them to ZHA. After restarting ZHA from scratch I wanted to add the bulbs again. I’m trying to reset the bulbs by turning them on/off 6 times but OMG they do NOT reset. No blinking lights. Nothing. Are the bulbs (all 4) dead?

Did you turn on of 230v or did you use the app? I think it should be the first. Plus it should be on for some time when you start, and it should be quick, and off/on (as in - end with on), not on/off as you wrote.

I didn’t use the app so 230v. I kept the light on for a good 10 minuten followed by the reset and ending with the light on.

Do the bulbs come on at all or even not permanent on when powering them?

My neighbours probably think I have an OCD. I spent last night switching on and off these bulbs in different places of my house. Even turned out my Wifi. I have absolutely no idea if that helps. I have send an email to Innr with no response yet.
Three other lights are working GU10 (Ali). Just scratching my head a lot and getting very annoyed :hugs:

They do turn on. So at least I have light?

Are you sure about the process to reset them?
I have checked Innr RB 262 control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT but there is no info about how to reset/pair them.

I have crafted a cable with plug, socket and switch to be able to reset/start the pairing process on my bulbs because with the regular wall switches, it was more difficult to get the right sequence

There is a manual included with the bulbs and it explains how to reset them. There is also a YouTube video.
I’m a bit shocked that you have to be that crafty to just reset a bulb :flushed:
I think I have tried a lot of sequences with a normal licht though.
I think I will return them and hopefully get my money back. Are there bulbs that can be easily reset if needed?

What are bulbs installed in and how are you turning them off and on? I had Senged bulbs and was trying to use a lamp turning them off and on using the rotating switch of lamp until I read somewhere that often doesn’t work. As soon as I did the same on/off process by cutting power to lamp at wall instead, the bulbs reset.

The reset process isn’t that unusual, so one wouldn’t accidentally reset it during normal use. I have some Cree bulbs with similar reset procedures. First, make sure you’re not using a fixture with a 3-way light switch, as that could cause issues when trying to reset. If you’re not getting the reset flicker, the bulbs may have already been reset. Check Home Assistant (HA) to see if the Zigbee network detects the device when you try to add it.

Well, it’s a smart bulb with electronics and ‘software’ so they’re not just bulbs and resetting them can be tricky.
This solution was just a way to make to process easier and after having coming up with that solution, I have seen similar reports of doing it that way.
If you have multiple bulbs behind the same switch, you have to unscrew the others so they don’t go into the pairing mode also so with my solution you have more control over that process.

The bulbs are not being detected by the zigbee network.

I have some Innr Zigbee switches that work great, so I don’t think the bulbs are bad. Try moving them near your HA instance with a portable lamp to see if that helps get them assigned again. It could be some RF interference, or the factory reset never worked.

If he cannot reset them or get the into pairing mode, that doesn’t make any difference IMHO

This is same process as used for Ikea bulbs and it coul dbe pain in the @$$…
Few questions:

  • does it matter if you start cycling from bulbs being on or off? For Ikea they must be in on state
  • by 6x on/of you mean: on, off, on, off, on, off (6 times toggle) or on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off, on, off (6x full on/off cycle)?
  • if only possible use the quality switch, even momentary bounciong of contacts can ruin the process… Best exanple of how not to do it is by screweeing the bulb in and out of the socket… could cause very ‘bouncy’ connection.
  • do you recall how you made it for the forst time? Can you repeat exactly the same process?
  • is there, by chance, some different procedure for first time pairing and for resetting to factory state?

I almost tried sitting on top of the Pi… In one hand the light and the other one (a finger) in a socket
Been around the house with an Ikea light and Innr bulb. Placed the Sonoff dongle in different spots. Moved the Pi around. Let the lightbulb on for multiple hours. Restarted HA multiple times.
Also found an other reset method online; turning the light on and off 3 times within 3 seconds. That also didn’t work.

It doesn’t really matter where you are compared in reference to the coordinator: if you cannot reset/put the bulbs into pair mode nothing will work.
Restarting HA/your RPi also has no use at all.
Make sure that you have the right info on how to reset/pair them and check, double check that you understood and/or execute it correct.
I had problems with my IKEA bulbs as well when using the regular light switch and with that cable it’s a lot easier.

I know it is a PITA but keeping your calm and make sure the you get the right reset process for your bulbs should be the first thing to do.
IMHO it’s impossible that you find different methods/sequences for resetting them.

Indeed, I use a smart plug and a script for the difficult Zigbee devices

Do you have a Hue remote? You could try the Hue reset process see if that takes.

I’m just desperately trying every possible method :hugs:
