Hi,
I’ve bought a Tuya Rotating Dimmer with a button (TS004F). I can rotate left/right, click the button once, twice and long press.
Now I have several dimmable lights in my living room. My goal is to able to push the dimmer and switch between the lights so I can dimm them seperately or all together. Something like
first press → dimm all lights
second press → select first light
third press → go to next light
long press → exit dimming mode
Ideally I also want to add that the selected light(s) are pulsing so I know which light I’ve selected to dimm.
I’m looking for help/pointers how to do this. Is this possible with the automation UI or do I need to read the docs for YAML ?
Neither of those. You probably just need to search in the blueprints exchange section of the forums and to find your specific device.
Being Tuya, they use that model for various buttons, dimmers & knobs. I’m guessing you need something like this since you have a knob.
Doesn’t seem very likely that what is available will cover your very specific requirements though (especially the pulsing part). You can always import a blueprint and try to customise it to your desire in HA Automations page though.
What I suggest you aim for is the following, which makes it slightly easier to accomplish:
first press → toggle on/off selected (default) lights
double press → go to next light, toggle, delay 1s, toggle again
rotate left/right → increase/decrease brightness on selected light
long press → jump immediately to default lights
You will probably need to set up an input select helper to cycle through the selected lights. You will then need to set up the customised blueprint to cycle through each light on every double press.
You will also need to set up a separate automation to set your input select back to default if the state hasn’t changed after a certain timeout (eg. 10s)
It’s all very complicated to explain, but it’s exactly what I’m doing with Z2M & the Philips Hue Dial, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work with your Tuya knob.
