Drayton Wiser Home Assistant Integration

hey all,

not really wiser related but heating nethertheless. . IN the big reno Im doing (hence radio silence) im fitting dual fuel towel radiators. What do people here use for controlling the towel radiator when its on electric??? Wiser doesnt have anything specific for here. I was thinking of a sonoff switch but really needs to be family friendly…
The alternative is to use a Wiser Plug on the outside of the bathroom but looks a bit odd…and easy to disconnect

Isn’t the Wiser Electrical Heat Switch designed for and suitable for this scenario?

If you’re not using a wiser trv, you can always use the wiser electrical heat switch which is designed for applications such as electric heaters and then just have a regular trv for the wet heating.

Yup, just what I wanted, I went looking for it but I couldnt see it on the website… (blind!).

Now where is that discount code when I want it…

thanks

Edit : Bit pricy at £65 tho… … Alas I missed out on the MIXED30 discount in june… just didnt think I needed it then

The only thing to be aware of is it requires an external temperature sensor. If using it with the wiser hub, this has to be the wiser room thermostat. However, it is supported by zigbee2mqtt which is the way I use it. You can then use it with any temperature sensor of your choosing (Eg Aqara).

Not sure if it’s expired yet, or is applicable to the Electrical Heat Switch, but try SURVEY30% as a discount code.

Thanks @msp1974. I’ve updated to 2023.9 and everything appears to be OK. Although our heating is off ATM, so it’s difficult to be sure.

However, cosmetically the changes, which I understand are coming to the climate card itself in the future, rather than just the more info dialog for now are not great when operating in Passive Mode.

IMO, this (old style) is far clearer:

Than this:

I’m not sure if anything can be done to change it so temperature range is coloured as it was previously (in preparation for this change coming to the main card), rather than the extremes, which seems more suited to displaying heat/cool mode i.e. heat to the lower temperature and then cool when above the upper temperature?

@robertwigley

indeed that looks awful. it would look better if the grey gap in the middle was a darker orange, indicating that is when heating does occur.

strike that on second thoughts, it would better if the orange atm would be dark orange, and the grey area would be light orange. to illustrate that when dark heat is kicked in if no other heat is called for, and scrap the blue bit all together.

I suspect it may be a case of having to use card-mod to change this. My exisiting card is already using that to change the colours depending on what mode is selected and whether it’s heating. See earlier up in the thread. Hopefully @msp1974 will be able to advise if there’s anything that can be done in the integration before turning to card-mod to try and sort it out.

Note, it’s only really a problem in Passive Mode, which is where I was anticipating it. It’s fairly bearable if that’s not switched on:

And, of course, I don’t know exactly how this will look when implemented in the main card. I guess there may be some changes to accomodate the fact that it’s a card and not a more info dialog. However, I certainly can’t see the sliders changing the way they are with the grey area being the range where it will be heating. We’re also missing the state now as well.

Note, the above screenshots do not have humidity data as I only have an iTRV in my Utility Room, whereas my Spare Room has a Room Thermostat as well, which is providing the humidity value.

I agree.
Forcing tile style cards upon us is crap. It’s bad enough having to click past this Irrelevant display every time to get to what is important with “more info”

Nope not valid…Neighter is MIXED30 I’ll wait till something comes up or the electrician needs it:-)

Im looing at https://shop.se.com/ , ironically its cheaper than most places but this item isnt stocked everywhere…

So I have the one with the built-in display. So I guess it won’t work then.

@Angelo_Santagata Amazon.de have a used one for €50, if it any good

I recently bought some smart plugs and they provide energy monitoring as you know, the field Total Power Usage - I have been trying to establish the timeframe - is this forever or if I turn off the plug/have a powercut will it reset? Does it reset itself after a certain time? Appreciate your help with this, thanks

As its my first post on this forum, can i just say that this integration is awesome, no problems with it at all, I have my house central heating on wiser and the control through this integration with HA it’s really well done. Thankyou.

@msp1974 soon, the heating months are about to start, was thinking would it be posible to add a new entity toggle the would allow us to stop all heating, and then resume schedules?

ATM we have a sensor, it would be really nice if this was turned into a toggle entity.

There was some discussion here earlier this year about summer/winter/vacation modes that would apply appropriate schedules to different rooms. This discussion talks about it for hot water, which didn’t work, but the same approach should work for room heating schedules.

This integration provides all the hooks to achieve this using automations - most relevantly services that handle the schedules. I’m looking to do the same thing soon (assuming I understand what you are trying to achieve) and will try to write it up as a recipe.

basically i would like to have a button that toggles heating (if ON it would turn off all heating / if OFF it would resume heating schedules)

so OFF and AUTO but for ALL rooms.

I think this is what you are looking for from earlier this year. Simply modify to suit your requirements.

After doing some testing with virtual energy monitors, I’d like to reset my energy dashboard as well as the plug kWh counter. To factor reset, is it a case of removing the plug from Wiser and re-adding? Hopefully this won’t mess with any automations.
