I am not there now, sombody else is helping me there.
Is there a way to test that that the valve is fully functional, and if it need lubricating with WD40, is it the pin that needs spraying or ???

I think the amount of travel depends on the make of valve. Assuming thereās another similar valve known to be working, measure the travel and compare to the suspect one. You could also get a feel for the resistance of the pin/spring on known good vs suspect. On mine, I can fairly easily depress pin by hand using a solid object. Also see how much the pin protrudes above the valve body.
My hub has just received a firmware update, from 3.10.6 to 3.10.8. Hopefully this is the eagerly awaited attempt to address the disconnection issues @jamiebennett?
Unfortunately not Iām afraid. It has a bunch of really good fixes (dozens) but the WiFi issue for some of you is still under investigation.
thank for your response. wellā¦ i see a roomstat in france cost 70 bucks, so i probably go with zigbee2mqtt with supported usb dongle on aliexpress, is only 16ā¬ (!) and far most open solution.
thank for the tips.
Is there any way to force the firmware update please?
You should get it by the end of the day. We are very cautious without our software rollouts so do it in batches and monitor very closely. Having said that, there is not too much customer-facing in the firmware for the UK, the app, if you havenāt already got the email message, does have a new and refreshed look though which will be available after the weekend in the app store.
Are there proper detailed (technical) release notes / change log for the firmware and app available anywhere? Iāve looked at the link in the email about the app, but itās very much just a marketing produced document without any real detail.
What I would suggest is untightening the ring at the bottom of the iTRV slightly when the heating is on and see if you start to hear a different noise (the flow of water pushing in, a fizz, youāll know something is different) or the radiator getting warmer. If this is the case you have a stiff valve. You can recalibrate the iTRV (turn it to the right - the decrease temperature side - for 2 seconds or so) but that will not be the end of it in the long run.
Iām no plumber (although I am trained as part of our understanding of what we are developing) but Iāve seen plumbers tap it with a spanner to free the valve or worse case replace the value if this happens.
Another test is to remove the iTRV completely and push down the little protruding valve head pin (itās pretty obvious, the bit that is sticking out at the top of the valve) and see how much force and how smooth it is to push down. The stiffer it is, the more likely it needs replacing or freeing up.
In short, no. If there are specific bugs reported from customers then we tend to highlight that we have fixed them but apart from what has been shared via email, we donāt go into too much detail.
Hi All,
Just got this setup today after moving over from Nest 3rd Gen. Im running OpenTherm. Is there anyway to set the maximum flow temperature? In Nest you could set this from within the App? The radiators seem to be coming on full tilt which they didnāt do before.
Also, one of the TRVs is in a bay window which seems to be quite cool down by the floor, is there a way of configuring an offset value or using another value from a different sensor. I already have SONOFF Zigbee sensors which are more accurate.
Thanks! Keen to get this all running smoothly and balance out the house temps.
I donāt particularly understand why but Iāve noticed that eco mode is never on on my system despite eco mode being activated. Even in the Wiser app it shows the eco mode savings as 0%.
Exactly the same here. I activated Eco mode for the first time 2 months ago and no sign of action or savings.
Regarding networking. At the moment the wiser hub is the only IoT device for which Iāve allowed any WAN access. TCP 443, 5671 & 5672. I am not sure if the latter two are needed but read somewhere theyāre required for Wiserās support. Everything else is blocked and logged and I have seen no blocked traffic. Until today, where there were a number of outgoing requests to port 80 to various amazon IPs. Is the hub attempting the firmware upgrade?
EDIT: Allowing that seems to have facilitated the upgrade. My hub now shows 3.10.8.
Whatās the required/recommended acl for the wiser hub?
I have also noticed some issues with the android app the past few days: The insights page sometimes fails to load and the app attempts to ping and TCP echo various WAN IPs (both of which are currently blocked). The wiser app is the same version I have been using for some time.
@jamiebennett I know this isnāt the Wiser feature request channel, but any chance you could add the date/time of the firmware update for the hub and devices to the app? I donāt mean the release date/time, but the actual time it was updated. Thanks for consideration!
You can write an automation to have Home Assistant notify you (and/or log to file) when itās updated. Iāve currently set the from
value for the attribute to the latest firmware version. The downside being you will need to update the automation each time the firmware updates. I have yet to test whether you can omit the from
value and have it notify on any change to the firmware attribute; it should work, but it might give false positives on restarting, as it may change from unknown
or unavailable
at startup to the actual value when the integration reads it in.

I recall seeing Eco savings displayed in the app in the spring, but havenāt seen them yet since we entered autumn. It would be nice if the app allowed you to scroll back in time to see previous monthās Eco and away savings as it does for carbon footprint.
I would be particularly interested to see historic figures for all this since I have insulated quite a few rooms since installing Wiser, and would be interested to do some comparisons.
A question for @jamiebennett - do the Eco and Comfort algorithms update over time of the heat profile if the house or rooms changes due to new insulation measures?
Ta - but I donāt actually use Wiser with HA - in fact I am not even using HA at the moment, waiting on the Yellow to set it all up again, and at this rate itāll be 2025 before it arrives
It would also be helpful to know when the Hub was last restarted, aka unix boot_time. The Wiser hub can start for a variety of reasons such as a power cycle as well as for a firmware update
Hello,
Newbie here.
I am looking to purchase into the Drayton ecosystem and configure with my newly setup HA install.
My question is, does anyone know if you can mix and match brands TRVās. I was hoping to buy the Drayton bundle that is on sale at the moment from Amazon (Thermostat, 5 TRVās), however it is shy of about 6 more TRVs that I need.
Can you combine the Drayton TRVās / Thermostat with say - Moes, or Tuya Zigbee TRVās that are much cheaper for a pack of 6 (or however many) from Aliexpress and have them all work/integrate together?
Thank in advance
