On 17th November, I received an email from Wiser saying that a new version of the App V6.1 was being released imminently, still have not seen it, has anyone else ?
Is there any way that the existing schedules can be grouped & downloaded / backed up, so that if I create different schedules, I can backup / restore them without cluttering up the system with unused schedules ??
An even better feature, would be to backup these internally, and provide an interface to browse, restore, backup schedules based on the data / time they were backed up or created ?
Kind of like having a library of schedules, and the ability to activate / deactivate & make one of them current would (in my opinion) be a pretty neat feature.
HI Jamie,
Iāve just installed my wiser system and for a couple of the iTRVās, it didnāt give me the chance to run calibration during the initial connection (seemed to run straight past that step on the hardware!).
Iāve been searching for a way to ārecalibrateā them without having to factory reset, as I think I have a couple which arenāt quite right.
Are you saying here that just by holding the ā-ā side down for 2 seconds, it will calibrate itself without me having to remove and re-pair it?
Also, a note to OPāsā¦ your integration is simply stunning! Thanks for all the hard work
Jay
Hi
Take one of the batteries out. Turn the radiator control to ensure control it is completely out of power. Put battery back in and then you can do the hold for 2 secs in the - direct.
Works for me !
I got the same email, but nothing in Google Play yet.
We are aiming for Monday for the app update.
Easiest way is this, thanks.
On the backlog but not today.
Thanks Jamie, Iāll keep my eyes open
No, for connected TRVs only the Wiser ones will work.
Has anyone got any experience with Auto-Balancing TRVs, or any thoughts on whether these are a good idea to use with iTRVs, or even if they can be used with iTRVs (i.e. just using the valve and swapping the head)?
If you have iTRVs installed on every radiator (bar the bypass radiator), and given that the iTRVs dynamically change state dependent on call for heat, doesnāt that mean that the balance of your system dynamically changes too? Therefore, if the system is balanced with everything open, when valves open/close, doesnāt the balance change too and it ends up out of balance? If so, Iām wondering if these would keep the system permanently balanced.
Probably one for a heating engineer, or maybe our resident Wiser man @jamiebennett
I have auto balancing TRVs on my system. They are made by Imi. Fitted and set by the heating engineer who upgraded the system. (new OpenTherm boiler etc)
My Wiser controls where in my existing system and he had to check with Imi that my iTRV heads would fit/work.
I have to assume all is working correctly. The only thing I remember is that the lock shield valve is left fully open so I guess the trv valve is set according to room and radiator properties.
I think itās just a bug in insights
not taking eco mode
into account plus how weirdly eco mode
is implemented.
Idea being that heating is turned off earlier because you soon will be requesting lower temperature point e.g. you are heating your bedroom to 22C at 8pm-10pm and from 10pm itās 20C (while you sleep), so heating is stopped earlier than 10pm to allow time for room to cooldown. However, I havenāt seen this in practice: Iām heating dressing room at 7am-9am to 19C and rest of the time itās set to 15C - while temperature is dropping from 19C to 15C throughout the day Wiser is saying room is in ECO mode, which has nothing to do with ECO mode, but schedule only heating room 2 hour in the morning.
All these rooms been in Eco mode from 9am and itās nearly 3pm.
Iāve found different way, which I think is not documented anywhere:
- Turn TRV top to
+
and hold it there - Red light showing
- Keep holding
- No lights showing
- Keep holding
- Red light showing and TRV starts to retract
- TRV has retracted and is in the same state as after pairing with hub - green light solid, blue and red are flashing
At this point it is easy to unscrew valve if you need to replace batteries - if radiator is very thin and valve is mounted vertically itās really hard to access battery compartment.
Same as after pairing turn TRV top to -
and hold until there is solid blue light - TRV is calibrating by pushing pin down until it canāt go any further.
NIce, i do struggle to get itrvs off sometimes.
Hello,
As im pissed off of the chinese TRVās im about to buy a Wiser kit. Could you please tell me how stable are these TRVās now in HASS? Also, I have a Hot water heatpump so i dont need it to control the heat source, just the TRVās. Is it a good choice?
ITS FABā¦ but then weāre biased Excellent support , works locally, unofficial support from wiser, stable, what else can we ask forā¦
However Wiser is designed for a traditional gas boiler (combi or system) Ive never heard of someone using it with a HP.
That saidā¦ If you simply dont connect the boiler CH wires I dont think wiser would know, @msp1974 runs some test/dev kit and Im sure he didnt splash out on a second boiler
Does anyone else have experience of HP?
I think I may have answered my own question regarding the Auto-Balancing TRVs. I found a video from Drayton explaining how they work, in which they also directly address the question of whether they work with the Wiser iTRVs (short answer is yes and they are recommended to complement them - relevant section starts at 16:00, although the whole video is worth a watch). They are available as just the valve without the TRV head as well by the look of it e.g. here.
@jamiebennett Iām not sure if this is the correct place for feedback on the Wiser app itself, but as the release has been mentioned here I figured it makes sense. Iāve just updated my Android Wiser app and noticed that under the hub info in Device details, the Heat Source type is blank. If I edit it I can select āoil boilerā but after a few seconds it dissappears and the field is blank again.
This was always present in the previous version.
