Commercial standalone (expensive!) power quality recorder exist. But are there any other, lower cost, devices that might perform similar monitoring that could be incorporated into Home Assistant?
FYI, the Ting device was provided to me for free by State Farm and it came with 3 years of free monitoring. I didn’t think much about the device until we had a power outage and I got a notification from the App. And then after a whole house generator was installed, I also got notifications that the device knows when the house is being supplied by generator power and sent notifications about utility power loss, and then when power was restored, but running on the generator, and when utility power is restored. So, this device definately has proven useful. However, the free service reverts to a paid subscription soon and I’m also looking for another solution, even if it’s DIY.
I contacted Ting support and received a reply that my free monitoring subscription would exist as long as a qualifying State Farm policy remained in effect, or the partnership between Ting and State Farm was active. They referred me to State Farm and my agent didn’t have a clue about this service and State Farm directed me to their Ting FAQ site.
