Yes over wired connection.
It all goes well up until booting the HAOS. I can connect to the ip over the browser but I get the same looking image that OP shared with a similar error.
Setup on my RPi4 without issue just having trouble getting the mini PC setup (planning to restore my backup)

I mean I set it back up now yes, but it was disconnected while I was attempting the install on the mini PC
I recommend you shut down all your devices which could contain a mDNS cache, and check your Router.
Having 1 Device with the (host)name homeassistant is fine, installing a new Device with the same host-name … ( Regardless if you actually did shut the RPI down “few seconds/minutes ago” ) is … asking for problems !

I have been successfully running HAOS under Proxmox since last November on a NUC13 [i5-1340P, 16GB, 1TB disk, wired eth0], but my current VM won’t update to the latest OS/Core, so I figured “OK, I’ll create a new VM and just copy over the configuration”.

Last 4 lines just keep repeating. I’m gonna shut down that VM and fire up the one that won’t update for the time being. I mean, this doesn’t seem like rocket science, it’s not able to download the right file, but why not? I’ll try rebooting my router too, and changing the DNS servers… Who knows?
Check if you created a disk large enough.
@francisp as far as I can tell, I did. Here too is what the disks look like on the host machine:

100 is the (pretty much functional, but won’t upgrade) HAos VM install, and 101 is the new VM install that is flunking out at initialization. I just booted it back up to see what it will do… Still not working.
On the console, at ha > prompt I can of course login and doing that and issuing df it appears that there’s plenty of room available on /mnt/data.
Edit: Oh yeah I switched to Google for DNS and that didn’t seem to help either.
Incidentally, the whole reason I’m reporting this error is of course because my other VM won’t upgrade to HAos 12.4… I get this error when I attempt to do that (linebreaks added for ease of reading but it’s all on one line):

which is to say, I’m experiencing multiple fails in the download process.
So, not sure if this is going to work in the end, but trying this. In the Proxmox console, I got a shell from the ha > prompt and issued the command
docker pull ghcr.io/home-assistant/qemux86-64-homeassistant:2024.6.3
But one or more of the bits of the pull are incomplete. It keeps timing out on some of the parts, runs out of retries. Argh. Maybe just too much traffic right now or something? Donno. I’ll try issuing this command again early in the morning or something.
Check your IPv6 settings in your router, or even better, try disabling IPv6 completly, at least for the install. I’ve read about problems with IPv6 in combination with that Github address.
Can’t give any guarantees, it’s just a guess. Try it, if you have the time and will to test it.
