Fresh Hass.io Installation does not work correctly!?

OK, that’s a start.
What exactly are the error messages? If you copy & paste here we have help you sort through the verbosity.

EDIT I just tried it and was missing an installed library but your issue may be different.

I get the impression because:

  1. there is an extra category for Hass.io here but none explicitly for Hassbian.

  2. the page https://home-assistant.github.io/hassbian-scripts/ is not maintained, some broken links for a test click “Suites” and you get a 404 because the link is not right. It must read as follows: https://home-assistant.github.io/hassbian-scripts/suites/

  3. currently unusual problems with Fresh Installation on Raspberry Zero W and I haven’t found anything here. 1-2 months ago there were no problems Fresh Image, switch on about 20-30 minutes later start.

I just flashed a fresh Hassbian image on a Rpi Zero W. When it’s ready, I’ll add a thermostat and then we’ll go through it step by step.

That is new documentation (within the past 2 weeks) that appears to be a mess and is broken…
I think they mean to point to the doc files in this directory.

  1. Hass.io has a separate section because the add-ons etc made people think there was a need. Hassbian is just Raspbian, so nobody thought there was a need for it

  2. It was broken recently as the developer is re-working things, they know, and they’re on it. But… you know what, we’ve all got other lives too

  3. A Pi Zero is not recommended for anything other than testing. A 30 minute first start is within what’s expected.

We all still have a life next to our automated home  It shouldn’t be a reproach only to show why I got the impression.

I know the Rpi Zero is not recommended for productive systems. But this is the rule in any project and most of the time it works very well. And it needs less power than its big brother, which makes it very attractive to me.

I have here 3 Rpi Zero’s for Multiroom Audio 1 Zero for my old Smart Home (SHC / https://www.rpi-controlcenter.de/) and 2 Rpi 3 for Kodi media system.

And currently 2 Zeros to test HA.

Okay, now we come back with a Fresh installtion of Hassbian with the same problems

Ok, sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-dev and try again.

And, next time, please post the errors in a code sharing site like https://paste.ubuntu.com, since it’s much easier to read correctly formatted errors than a wall of unformatted noise.

They are ( and I am) learning.
Having the logs here is better than just saying the components could not be loaded with no other information. Using an outside service is better still, I agree since Python errors are so verbose.

Okay. I’ll do that in the future.
Also annoyed me that it was not to be formatted differently.

In fact, that was the mistake what was missing for the thermostats.

apt-get install libglib2.0-dev

But what can be done to include this in the component definition or to reintegrate the missing lib in the future?
Another problem is the device_tracker - AVM FRITZ!Box Tools - Home Assistant.
I suppose this is related to the general overhaul of the function as read in the release note?

Because if the device_tracker like here:

device_tracker:
  - platform: fritz
    host: [HOST]
    username: [USER]
    password: [PASSWORD]
    new_device_defaults:
      track_new_devices: true
      hide_if_away: false

is listed in the configuration, HA will not start.
In home-assistant.log there is no error message only in syslog appears:
Jun 9 19:26:50 hassbian hass[388]: 2019-06-09 19:26:50 INFO (SyncWorker_3) [homeassistant.util.package] Attempting install of fritzconnection==0.6.5

You forgot to mark that as code, making it hard to see if what you did was formatted correctly.

It make take a few minutes to install the dependency. Worst case it make take up to half an hour. You can watch what’s happening by looking at top, or checking to see if there are any processes called cc or cc1 (ps axu|grep cc).

Like this.
HomeAss_CodeMarking_From%40finity

The lib was missing from the OS. Now it is there, you should not have this particular issue again.

Okay, sometimes later HA comes back
But the devie_tracker for fritz doesn’t work…
Of course I followed the hint under Components see here output from the console:

root@hassbian:/home/pi# apt-get install python3-lxml libxslt-dev libxml2-dev zlib1g-dev
Paketlisten werden gelesen… Fertig

The Complete Log i postet here: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/9k5YKphBkX/
I suppose he’s having trouble with lxml. Could that be a missing lib?

Or maybe the hardware is too weak i think I’m gonna go get a Rpi 3B+ on Tuesday.

Line 191 says it hasn’t found any Bluetooth LE devices, or does it mean the tracker isn’t running correctly?

I cannot read German, but google translate tells me that you already have those packages installed.

Use better deepl.com is much better than google. But it is correct I have installed all mentioned packages before successfully.

As listed on the components page.

I found a hint somewhere else that you might still need ‘python-lxml’, I installed it once, but it’s still booting. Let’s see  But it takes now a long time … :stuck_out_tongue:

You have already installed it.

These packages were already installed before the log was created: python3-lxml libxslt-dev libxml2-dev zlib1g-dev.

Now, i have installed extra ‘python-lxml’

But unfortunately it wasn’t ‘python-lxml’, the device_traker doesn’t work.
