Hi all,
I built HA Git Sync, a Home Assistant add-on that keeps your /config
directory synced with a git repository - both ways.
Why another git add-on? The old “Git Pull” add-on only pulled, and had
a history of data-loss reports when local changes collided with remote
ones. I wanted something that:
- Syncs in both directions (push local edits out, pull remote edits in)
- Never silently overwrites either side — conflicts are detected and
surfaced, not auto-resolved - Lets you control sync behavior per file or folder: automatic vs.
manual, and in which direction (in / out / both). Default is manual,
so nothing moves until you say so. - Shows you a review screen of pending changes before they’re applied
- Respects a configurable ignore/scope list, so secrets and noisy files
never get swept into the repo by accident
It runs entirely inside your HA instance, talking directly to the git
remote you configure - no third-party service in the loop.
Install:
Add this repository to your Home Assistant Add-on Store:
https://github.com/a4ng3i/ha-apps
Then install “HA Git Sync” from the store and configure your repo URL
and credentials in the add-on’s settings. A “HA Git Sync (Beta)” add-on
is also available in the same repo if you want to try upcoming changes
before they reach the stable release.
