Hassio folder structure

Hi guys

I have trawled my hassio installation thoroughly, but i can’t seem to locate folders like

homeassistant
.homeassistant
python3.6

or any other folders that i see mentioned in the Roomba setup instructions.

I use Putty from Win10. I do login with user “root” + password. i use command ls -a to reveal hidden files and folders also, but still no luck.

Can anyone give me soe pointers about what i’m doing wrong, or where exactly on my hssio installation i can find any of the above mentioned folders?

Thanks

That’s why you can’t find anything.

You’re looking for directories that do not exist on a hassio install. Why do you think you need to access them?

I think i need to access these folders to follow the instructions on how to connect my Roomba to my HA setup

If there is an alternative method, i’d be very happy to try that out also. The Roomba is my last unit not “behaving”

For the love of god i can’t locate neither of these folders when i log in using Putty

homeassistant
Roomba
python 3.6

or any other folders described in the how-to guides for installing Roomba
I’m using Hassio on a raspi zero w

Can anyone please point out to me where i can find these folders? I use the ls -a command to reveal hidden files and folders, but no luck :frowning: I really need to be able to find these, so i can get my Roomba properly integrated in my otherwise lovely Home Assistant solution

Thanks.

How did you install home assistant?

Hassio, hassbian, other install method?

He double posted. Looks like hassio.

Thanks @flamingm0e

Hi guys

I need to access these folders to follow the instructions on how to connect my Roomba to my HA setup

You can run python on ANY system, which means you could get the BLID and PW from ANY system on your network. You do not need to run it on the system running Home Assistant.

But, if you want lower level access to the OS, you should NOT be running hassio.

PS. It is kind of rude to cross post over many different forum sections. It just makes a mess of the forum and spreads information out where it doesn’t need to be. Stick to ONE post per issue.

I might be able to run Python on my win10 machine, but i still need to have the script and pieces installed? I’m not sure how i would go about this

I am very sorry to act rude in your view, but i posted and got no response, so i figured that i’d try again with a more precise and short description of my problem. I’m not quite sure how i should do it in another way - i could of course try to delete the unanswered posts. What would be the appropriate method, complying to good forum ethics, in this regard?

You can install home assistant in Python on Windows. Then you can do all the things you need, get the ID/PW and input that into your hassio instance.

You should wait then.

You could have edited your original thread, to add the information you felt necessary for a more concise post.

You have to understand this forum is made up of volunteers, and nobody is an ‘employee’. When someone has an answer to your question, they will post it when they have a chance. When you post the same issue across 3 different topics, and you wind up getting answers in all 3 of them, the info is duplicated/triplicated and makes a mess. Just be mindful of this. That’s all.

I used a win10 machine. I Installed Python and six library, and then i could run getpassword.py to retrieve the needed BLID and password.

My Roomba now communicates, and even without borking my Hassio.

Thanks

If I may… what Roomba do you have?

I guess I’m really asking if you’re using something in the 600-79x series… and if it still works.

Mine is a 980 model, and it works perfectly

Whelp, I originally said one thing here, but after a bit more nosing around… my Roomba is on a 2.x firmware…

Not sure why getpassword will give me my BLID, etc… but not the password. So frustrating. I’ve put hours into this at this point.

I have a 690, but according to what I’ve see online, this should work.

I cross my fingers for you  I don’t have much insight, and barely managed to pull those info myself. So i am afraid i am not going to be of much help, unfortunately.
