Good afternoon,
Newbie here with only a couple of months of HA experience. I have a Hisense M2 projector, with the VIDAA 8 OS.
TLDR: Is there a way to get the play/pause state of a DLNA/Homekit device that runs on VIDAA8, please?
I’ve used the Homekit integration to add the projector to Home Assistant. I can see when the projector powers on and off, and Home Assistant can send Volume up/down, play/pause, and power toggle commands. Since the device is DLNA compatible, is there anyway to read the play/pause state of the projector, please? I’ve looked at other threads on previous versions, to no avail.
When creating an automation, I have the option of the projector starting playing as a trigger, but Home Assistant isn’t receiving a play/pause state from the projector to work that trigger. My hope was to eventually control different lights in the room, based on the play/pause state of the projector. i.e. if you get pause to get up to get a drink, the lights turn up the brightness slightly, and the lights on the staircase turn on. Once you sit down and press play, the staircase lights turn off, and the other lights in the room dim down to mood-lighting levels.
I had considered using the play/pause button within Home Assistant to trigger the lighting, but that would require either a different remote where I can monitor button presses, or the watcher to use the HA app to access media controls. While I’m happy to do that, that’s not going to fly with other people in the house; they’re going to want to use the OEM remote.
I also tried using a power monitoring outlet, but there was no noticeable difference in power draw between play and pause states.
I noticed that the projector also has an integration for ‘Control4’, but that looks like I might be opening a whole can of worms…
Thank you for your help
