History page does not load

Hello everyone
My history page does not load. Specifically, it only loads in Chrome on a desktop PC. Will not load on any other browser on the PC and likewise, won’t load on any browser (including HA app) on iPad Pro.
The data loads. And the charts in the second half of the page load (sometimes) if I scroll down, but the bars do not appear and on hover (on a black screen) I can see the pop ups for each sensor, so this is likely a styling issue. Also, when I reduce screen size to 30% width of screen I can see the coloured bars, but the page is unreadable. I have had this issue for months, searched high and low and the existing threads I have seen on the issue (4 years old) do not seem to relate to my issue. My history page is heavy, many sensors, switches and automations. It is such a valuable resource I really need help to understand what’s going on. In summary, data is there, just that it’s not rendering. Charts appear, but not on all browsers. Any help very welcome.

I have this for months as well. Didn’t remember if it worked on ipad, iPhone,… Anytime in the past.

Snap! That’s what I see. Since months and I update regularly. It is probably a browser setting, but Lord knows I don’t know which.

Would you volunteer to open an issue here

I though, that I have seen at least 2 issues for this already there, but I’m not able to find them anymore.

did you ate least try to minimize the number of entities recorded, and see what happens>

I used to have issues with logbook and history nit showing, until I curated my recorders recorded entities list. Havent had an issue since, and I am running a large system (3700 + entities) on a Pi4.

so for the sake of testing, only include lets say domain person and see what gives?

Most probably that will work. But then this does not solve the problem, but only work around the symptom.

I would be more interested in having someone fix the problem. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

well, this Is the fix… if you’re not prepared to test and try, there’s not much use in trying to help… why would you want to record all entities in your config?

No, if it is working in other browsers and not in safari, it is not a fix for the root cause, if I change the number of my entities. Definitively not. It is a bad workaround to mitigate this bug, nothing more. And therefore it is not needed to talk about the requirements each user have in regard to number of records. This is not related to the bug.

And as you see every popup for every entity and only the bars are not drawn, I’m pretty sure someone with coding knowledge should be able to fix the root cause.

I can almost guarantee this is a byproduct of using the default database on a slow device. Depending on the lookup, it can take quite a bit. If you look at the logs, you can probably see that it’s happily chugging along but it’s not done with the lookup so the information isn’t being shown.

I’m sure that my M1 iPad has more power than my anxious pc with chrome. It’s not a matter of waiting, etc. the whole page is loaded and generated, every tooltip, even on every bar chart is working, you can only not see the bar chart.

What I now saw (didn’t expect that before and scrolled that far down), it is only related to the bar-charts. The more process consuming graph charts below are shown on safari without problems, if I scroll deeper. But not a single bar chart is displayed - or all transparent.

Actually my memory is off. There was never an issue for that it seems, you linked another forum post. If this is indeed happening, it needs to have an issue.

Which issue I have linked? And if the OP says

I think it is similar or the same.

Yes, I removed my message because this convo is in 2 places. Anyways, no one has reported the issue.

Ah, o.k. See above, I already asked the OP to do this, because I’m not able to find the issues anymore, which I had in my mind.

I’m new here and have never opened an issue but will do so once I familiarise myself. A couple of points in response to above, it can’t be a pi(4 8G 64 bit performance) issue because it’s browser dependent, i think. I’m running chrome Firefox and safari on an M1 chip so it’s not a client issue. I didn’t know I could restrict the entries on the history page, even a workaround of that nature is welcome. Will look into it. My history list is quite long and I thought the system max’s out but imagine I’m not alone since I haven’t anything particularly complex in my config. Direction on limiting entries on history much welcome. Thanks to everyone responding above. I’m learning.

Do I create an issue on GitHub? Or on this community site?

Github. See my link above.

For me it doesn’t even load:

Hope for a fix soon…

Doesn’t look like the issue is gaining much traction on GitHub.
