Hold Action - Why Do I Have to Let Go?

I’d love to use more of the hold-action in my setup, but I hate having to always explain "tap and hold until haptic feedback or (for anyone without haptics) tap and hold for exactly 1.999987 seconds. Everyone holds buttons for too long or not long enough so I stopped using hold-actions.

Why can’t I tap and hold a button until the action happens? Why do I have to let go at just the right time to make it work? This is incredibly annoying.
