Home Assistant Yellow CM5 only green LED on constantly?

Hi,

I just got a brand new Home Assistant Yellow with the CM5 module and I tried installing it the first time with the Raspberry Pi Imager as instructed, but after completed flashing all that happened when I powered it up was the red LED lighting up for a short moment and the the green LED being the only one on constantly.

I tried re-installing but no change.

Then I found a backup-guide to re-install the OS that I used:
https://yellow.home-assistant.io/guides/issue-while-installing-os-on-emmc/

So this guide was for an alternate issue, but none the less it worked for me following it.

So I had the HA directly cabled via USB-C and moved the jumper.

The latest current version, in writing moment is this one, just for the ease for you: https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/releases/download/14.0/haos_yellow-14.0.img.xz.

Otherwise visit the release-page that is linked in the guide, and remember to click “show all assets”, otherwise you won’t see the HA Yellow OS.

So just remember when you get to Step 3 in the normal guide (which the guide links to as well), to use the OS you downloaded yourself.

Hope it can save someone the same troubles it caused me

Best,
Martin

I had the same experience, here’s what I did to get around it. I happened to have a spare nvme drive laying around so I flashed it using an nvme->USB dongle and the Raspberry Pi Imager software, using the latest HAOS14 found here

https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/releases/download/14.0/haos_yellow-14.0.img.xz

After flashing, I popped it into the Yellow gave it a few minutes and then was able to connect via homeassistant.local:8123

I think the same might apply if you were to use a USB stick too, to download onto the on device storage but not 100% sure. Hope this helps.
