I just got a brand new Home Assistant Yellow with the CM5 module and I tried installing it the first time with the Raspberry Pi Imager as instructed, but after completed flashing all that happened when I powered it up was the red LED lighting up for a short moment and the the green LED being the only one on constantly.
I had the same experience, here’s what I did to get around it. I happened to have a spare nvme drive laying around so I flashed it using an nvme->USB dongle and the Raspberry Pi Imager software, using the latest HAOS14 found here
I migrated from a CM4 to a CM5 and also replaced the NVMe for a new one, so I would like to install fresh, but I put the USB stick I imaged using RPI Imager, but just got steady green light.
I bought a Home Assistant Yellow PoE with a CM5 from Seeed Studio, but seem to be having the same issue as reported by others here. Quite frustrating. Are there any other potential workarounds?
EDIT: As it turns out, the instructions here were effective
I think the problem I was having was a USB-C to USB-A cable that wasn’t rated for data (just power) when I connected it to my laptop to use rpiboot.
Thanks a million, this worked for me, was tearing my hair out trying to get my Home Assistant Yellow to boot after installing a new NVME drive after my last one failed.
