HomeAssistant and Reolink Doorbell POE

Hi Guys,

please could you share where you ordered your unit from?
I’m looking for the PoE version but it’s sold out in reolink store.

Thanks

I ordered mine from the Reolink website directly… back in July or August. It was a pre-order. They had problems with manufacturing or something, and it took until two days ago to get it.

I think you might be out of luck for a bit.

Thank you, @skynet01! I’m still not thrilled with video performance but I don’t use Home Assistant for video monitoring, so I changed the stream type to images, and I get about one per second. Given I have full monitoring and recording through Synology Surveillance Station, I can absolutely live with current functionality in Home Assistant.

Again, thank you!

Anyone update the JimStar/Reolink integration today, only to find that something broke? In my case, all the cams stopped working. Now, it does say the streams may need to be reconfigured, which I interpret as, delete the device, re-add it. But the issue on my end is that I never got acceptable video, and chose to go with the “image” option that updates about once per second. (My viewing my cams through HA never went outside of needing more than this, even though it would be nice to get fluid video.) But more importantly, it’s that the “image” stream is gone now.

I had a snapshot of my VM, so after I screwed it up even more by messing with just about everything to get the video to work fluidly, I just gave up and reverted the whole machine. (Not entirely necessary, but I’d installed add-ons and other things trying to get it working.)

So… my plight is to simply live with current version for a while and not update. This is the only Reolink/HA integration that can use the Visitor ONVIF signal on the doorbell, correct?

Thanks!

He did warn that when updating we would have to change the entity in the Lovelace dashboard.

Isn’t the firmware file online anymore? The file isn’t existing for me.

Try using the Reolink App to go to the settings of the doorbell and update the firmware. Maybe you already have the latest one.

Reolink said the doorbell has Onvif Profile T so it should support it, I think it may just be a matter of finding the right URL to access it.

For example the Amcrest AD410 required &protobuf=Onvif to be at the end of the typical URL for two way talk to be enabled

I’m sorry to repeat what other ppl already said, but i just got my POE doorbell and i’m noticing that the visitors sensors ain’t doing jack in HA, and it was delivered WITH the “fixed” firmware, i even tried to re-update it with the firmware found in this thread just to be really really be sure that’s not the problem and got this so pretty sure i’m covered there: “Upgrade Failed
Failed to upgrade as the selected package is identical with the current version. Please try again.”

there are actually 3 things that do not seem to work in HA that DO work via the reolink app(android) and that’s:

  • person detection (never changes state from clear)
  • motion (never changes state from clear)
  • visitors (it’s always off)

Just trying to get some help here, i saw someone that started a new thread over at jim’s and got it closed ans was told to take a look at all the other threads about it, i’ve been doing that for hours and i’m still nowhere closer to a solution -.-

I just installed my wifi version today. I noticed that if I set to stream to rtsp in the integration configuration, none of the motion, visitor or person detected sensors update. Just like you describe. However, if in the integration configuration I choose rtmp, the sensors do work. So try that.

Unfortunately, the video stream does not work well with rtmp. It updates only once every 10 seconds.

Same for me. I’ve tried so many things.

Hmm. I don’t know if this is helpful. But when I setup my camera, I used one of these randomly generated passwords. It had a lot of weird characters (in particular a ‘%’) in the password. I changed it to a still random password, but only consisting of letters and numbers, no other weird characters. I then deleted the integration and re-added it with the new credentials.

And now everything works, also the rtmp video stream.

Yeah I had the problem with no sensor changes. I could solve it by connecting the Doorbell directly with the router instead of through the NVR.

Can anyone confirm that the alleged ONVIF Profile T two-way audio actually works?

Should it work with the PoE and Wi-Fi model?

Thanks

Hi there, I have connected it using the Scrypted add-on.
The push button event is working as someone earlier suggested, the event is: RuleEngine/MyRuleDetector/Visitor

So now I get homekit notifications (they arrive faster then the default Reolink app notifications) with screenshots and the ability to talk-back. For now, the 2 way audio isn’t working. Cam → iPhone audio works, iPhone → Cam doesn’t.

The mic icon is availible and clickable, but doesn’t seem to work. Guess i have to dig a bit deeper in the URL settings, to see if i’m missing something.

Check this: ONVIF Profile T with 2-way audio support for PoE doorbell | Reolink Community
It looks like 2 way audio is not supported at the moment.

Hi well that’s already 1-way audio. So this means you can listen to the doorbell.

I’ve created a post on the reolink forums to ask the question directly to reolink as @p.deelen mentioned:

Initially I asked if onvif profile T was supported for the poe doorbell, which was confirmed by reolink. However they didn’t respond to the question of 2-way audio:

That’s why I now created a new forum post about the 2-way audio.
It would be absolutely amazing to have 2-way audio work through onvif profile T, so that we can use scrypted to integrate the doorbell into homekit.

For me that’s the last little piece to make this doorbell the absolute winner!

I must admit I was disappointed after my first impressions with the Reolink Video doorbell (WiFi).
Posted my complaints in the Reolink reddit topic (here)

However almost all of my complaints are solved by the amazing work the dev’s of Scrypted have accomplished. I made a small video to demonstrate the super-fast Homekit integration.

Let’s hope the two-way audio issues will get fixed, then indeed I agree, we do have a winner!

Ow yea I saw the reolink reddit post yesterday  it’s a small world!
Many thanks for the video. That’s indeed very fast :rocket:
I received my PoE doorbell, but I still need to install it.

I suppose you just use the onvif plugin in scrypted? And not the reolink plugin, as the doorbell press is not supported in the reolink plugin itself.
And also the reolink on-the-edge person detection is sent through onvif to scrypted I suppose?

Let’s hope reolink fixes the 2-way audio in their onvif implementation. Can’t wait to respond to my doorbell through my iphone/apple watch

I emailed with reolink technical support and they asked their engineers, looks like two way audio via backchannel is coming but not currently supported.

Also about the visitor sensor, I don’t use the camera. sensors in HA as I use the doorbell with frigate, but the visitor sensor in HA is working great.
