How to add links to forum posts

  1. To link to a URL, just paste it into your post:
  1. If you don’t want to see a preview block, add a period (.) to the end of the link.

  1. If you want to link to a particular post in a thread, add the post number to the end of the link.
    This can also be done by clicking the chain-link icon at the bottom of that post, or by clicking in the post to focus on it and copying the URL out of the top URL bar in the browser.

  1. If you want to link from a particular phrase in your post, use the Hyperlink tool in the toolbar (or Ctrl+k).

  1. Some Posts are formatted to include Headers in the text. When this is done, floating the cursor over that line pops up the chain-link icon. Clicking that chain-link icon changes the focus to that specific URL. That URL can be copied out of the URL bar at the top and shared with others so it brings them to the exact point of interest in the post.

The link button at the bottom of every post will do that for you.


I added the link button trick, but not the < > brackets.
Adding the period displays the post title. The brackets display the messy link itself.
Also added a couple other things.
