Hvac_action no longer updating in Honeywell Total Connect Comfort

I am in the process of migrating from Vera to HA. The Honeywell TCC work fine or my two RedLink connected thermostats at first including the template sensors I use to monitor the operation mode (heating, cooling, idle) throughout the day. However, I have found recently that the hvac_action attribute no longer updates. I have verified that this is still updating correctly on my Vera controller, so it does not appear to be a TCC issue. The log is consistently (every 10-15 minutes) showing “Update of climate.blah is taking over 10 seconds” warnings for both thermostats, but I haven’t been able to find any more detail. I’ve tried reloading the integration as suggested in a similar thread. Any ideas of other things to try or additional information to look into? I’m currently running 2024.7.3.

Hi Justin Wilhelm,

I have TCC and it rate limits REALLY easily. If you are trying every 10 mins on 2 devices, that won’t work. Space them out…

Thanks for the tip. I’m not finding a user editable parameter for polling interval for the integration or devices. Is this configurable in a yaml file somewhere? Likewise, is there an option to phase the polling between the two so that they don’t occur near the same time?

Found this related topic. I turned of auto-updating and setup an automation to force update on a set interval. I’ll try this, optimize if it works and report what I end up with. Issue #715937

Disabling the automatic polling stopped the errors in the log, but the hvac_action is still not updating with the automation triggered entity updates. The setpoints and current temp are updating fine. Everything is still working perfectly well in Vera. The issue seems to be in the HA integration.

This problem is still unresolved. Anyone else seeing a similar issue? Any other ideas of things to try or information to gather? Would it be better to post this as an issue in Github?
