I can't enter the web interface

Hello everyone. I have just installed the homeassistant system in the vmware virtual machine. It can boot successfully. But I can’t enter the web interface by homeassistant.local:8123 or IP:8123. The browser told me that my connection is refused. But I can enter the Home Assistant observer.

I found some solution about this problem, but it doesn’t work. When I enter “HA Core Check” on the console, the system displays the following error:

Can someone help solve this problem? Thanks!

It might not resolve the name…did you try with ip of the machine? e.g. http:/192.168.3.84:8123

Yes, but it still display “Connection refused”.

Not sure how exactly you installed this but I needed to manually open the 8123 port on my NUC.

I installed it in the vmware virtual machine

Also, there are issues with IPv6 … so maybe switch that off and go solely IPv4 (look for other posts on details)

That does not mean all ports are open

I have used nmap to scan the port:

To be honest, I donot know what the ‘observer’ entry does, I am using a docker/container install non supervised.
But 8123 is closed and without being 100% sure (close to it), 8123 is used for HA

And repeating… check other posts on IPv6…this too might be an issue

OK,I’ll give it a try.

I can’t enter the web interface by ipv6 either

That is what I wrote…to NOT use ipv6 … and open port 8123

I also encountered the same error, but I can still access the initial page through IP. I just haven’t been able to load the login page. I also found several errors in the initial page, but I don’t know what it represents

Maybe your error is diffirent with my error, my 8123 port on the virtual machine is closed, but I don’t know how to open it

I try to use iptables to open the port, but it seems doesn’t work, nmap shows 8123 port is still closed.

There is a tutorial to open the virtual machine port on this page, but it is a Chinese website. You may need to mount VPN to access it

Is your firewall active and possibly blocking it? Depending on OS you have different CLI
e.g. on ubuntu to show what is there: sudo ufw list

Thanks everyone, I’ve figured this problem. It’s very strange because I opened the vm for 3 days, then today I found that I can enter the web interface . I think it may have something to do with my network situation.
