This works well. I managed in the end (cos of having to reinstall the HA app) to get the iPhone setup to see the app…it seemed to be working without that. Intially as I think I commented here? it would see the iPhone but then say there wasn’t an app to link to.
One strange thing which might be me, but when I restart HA the automations fire linked to iCloudv3’s sensors for home zone or distance - even if I say ‘duration 5/10 mins’ - so for the moment HA is restarted, it seems to think I am away…and then the camera motions etc start coming in.
@poudenes
I will check it out. It probably has something to do with the ‘Device not in Apple Acct msg’ displayed on the first screen.
Edit: What version of iCloud3 are you using. I just tried it on a beta version on my computer and it seemed to work. I will be releasing it Friday (iCloud3 v3.3.5).
Edit 2: Can you do it again and get the same Unknown Error Occurred. Then go to HA Settings > System > Logs and look for an error. It will probably be at the top of the list and might not say iCloud3. Let me know what the error says.
My system just started to fail (few hours ago), cannot authenticate. Seems that even login is not passing through, so when I request new code there is no code send back to me from Apple:
After updating to this beta version and simple reloading of integration everything instantly started to work again! Even without re-requesting authentication. Thanks a lot, Gary!
Hi Gary, hope I could ask a couple of things about iCloud3.
I have found the Home Assistant Companion app in iOS and iPadOS to be hopeless reporting battery level. In fact, it basically doesn’t and on a couple of iPads I had to set up a series of Shortcuts to force the app to update. That does work but it’s a kludge, whereas the official HA iCloud Integration seems to provide more accurate and up to date battery info without the need of any additional prompting.
From where does iCloud3 get its battery charge level data?
In order for iCloud3 to offer location info from the HA Companion app, does the app need to be actually running?
The official iCloud Integration gets location data from Apple and doesn’t require anything running on the device for that. This makes it more reliable than something that requires an app to be actually running. Or is the data returned in the background even if the Companion app is not running?
If so, why is battery level so poorly handled, even when the app is actually running - in the foreground?
I’m looking for reliable battery level and location data without having to rely on any particular app constantly running. Can iCloud3 provide that?
@Calzor_Suzay
I am not sure what you are referring to by ‘hotfix’. Could be specific as to the code that was changed, the problem it fixed and the problem you are having.
@Calzor_Suzay
You never explained what you are referring to by ‘hot fix’. If you modded some code and got something working, let me know and I’lladd it to the next release. v3.4.2 will be out in a couple of days. Otherwise, that won’t work for you either.
