Ikea Kajplats Zigbee mode

I thought I’d just share my success with adding four Kajplats E27 1521 lumen to ZHA.

Had these previously connected over matter.
Started with 6 power cycles to reset the bulb. Waited for a few seconds to see the confirmation. Continued with 12 power cycles, waited for the cold white confirmation and a second after this, the bulb showed up in ZHA.

Like others have mentioned, it doesn’t show any manufacturer information, but everything still works.

Seems to be fully integrated with the rest of the Zigbee network

Where/how did you click on the touchlink feature?

I want to thank you guys for these ideas here and want to share my experience as well if it helps others in future.

I have “KAJPLATS E27 WS G95 clear 806lm
IKEA of Sweden” lamp that i first tried to use under HUE bridge but that was misery, it kept dropping out of connection every night and required powercycle to reconnect.

I tried to connect it to ZHA with no luck using the 6 time powercycle reset. For me the 12 time cycle didnt produce any outcome -lamp didnt react anyway.

FOR ME the solution was to make the 15 time reset which led to the lamp continuosly dimming and during that period it was also discoverable by SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2

Many thanks all for the tips and tricks. I can confirm I’ve got it working with 15 power cycles using zigbee2mqtt (2.7.1-1) and a conbee II stick.

Zigbee2mqtt makes a generic profile since it’s not supported yet.

Did some quick googling for you. Looks like basic support has been added to the Z2M dev branch yesterday [New device support]: Ikea Kajplats Bulb (not working) · Issue #30211 · Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt · GitHub

If all goes well, you can expect the device to be (partially) supported in Z2M with the next release on the 1st of the month.

Ah thanks for pointing it out. I did notice earlier that some were working on support.
With the generic profile it’s already functional (far I can tell fully functional).

Attached is a screenshot from zigbee2mqtt.

I bought a Kajplats E14 806. I first added it to ZHA with Matter of Threads (I have Google Nest Hub as Border Router). Worked really well, even the firmware updates where possible.
With Zigbee first time 12 power cylces, did put it on pairing mode and interview started but hanged. 2nd time it was added over Zigbee. This time no firmware updates where possible and less functions also.

Both ways did not enabled some cool effects.

Kayplats Globe G95 did nothing at 12 power cycles. Start breathing at 15 power cycles, but no pairing with Skyconnect over ZHA… at first! After a couple of minutes it blinked and blinked again and it was paired and shown in ZHA. I t was on firmware 1.0.28.

But what a devices Ikea made! Matter is really easy to set up, stable and flexible. But it also supports Zigbee for legacy. Lights are much better and no coilwhine (for now). You can’t go wrong with these devices :).

OK, so after the extra replies I gave another shot. Or many shots. It looks like my bulb is freezing after a minute or so in zigbee mode. It often doesn’t appear, sometimes it gets to the interviewing fase, sometimes I can add it but it becomes unresponsive after a few seconds.

Also gave it another shot. After 15 cycles, the bulb starts pulsating and sometimes becomes detectable in zha. The interview phase starts, but never finishes.

Maybe it’s handy to gather some more information?

I’m using the following:

  • Home Assistant Green (2025.12.5)
  • ZHA
  • Sonoff Dongle Plus-E / ZBDongle-E
    Firmware: Zigbee 6.10.3
  • KAJPLATS E27 WS G95 clear 806lm (36873)
    Firmware: 1.0.28
    Hardware: P2.0
    Bought in Belgium

The kajplats bulb works great when paired to Dirigera and shared through Matter to Home Assistant.
It does not work great when paired directly to ZHA, often doesn’t even get through the pairing process.

I noticed that the bulb needs a reset to re-pair after being paired before. If you do a 6 on/off cycle (it confirms by blinking), turn it off and then do a 12 times on/off cycle it is back in zigbee mode.

I was finally able to pair my G95 bulb to ZHA.
And I second the previous post about doing a reset. I tried the 15 times off-on several times but it wouldn’t show up in ZHA, even though it seemed to enter the pairing mode (light cycling). So then I did 6 times off-on, waited for a while and then 15 times off-on. Now it showed up in ZHA and was able to complete the interview phase. The bulb is now working, let’s see during the coming days if it remains stable.

Today also successfully bound an Ikea Styrbar remote to it, so I can now use the remote for On/Off and dimming control.
This is perfect, just like the old Trådfri. Means Kajplats bulbs should be able to integrate with my existing devices for direct hw control as well as HA.
Let’s hope Ikea doesn’t block these features in the future

I have tried once again and it’s working for now.

The coordinator and lamp were on opposites of the room, only 5 or 6m (+/- 15 to 18 feet), with a decent amount of routers in the room (3x inspelning and 6x tradfri). I don’t know if this solved it, but I moved the antenna to about 3m (+/- 10 feet) from the bulb.

Then I did the 6x power cycle, waited a minute or 2, did the 15x power cycle, opened Home Assistant, went to add a Zigbee device, and then it took another minute or 2 before it appeared.

I moved the antenna back and it still seems to work.

I just bought the same E27 Filament Globe as @Mixam. Putting it into Zigbee mode seems to be working after 6-reps reset followed by 15-rep Zigbee mode. Both cycles give confirmation from the globe (blinking).

However, HA is not detecting any device when searching for Zigbee devices. Tried numerous times.

FYI: 2x non-filament E27 were detected instantly after 12 cycle Zigbee mode and added to HA.

My setup: Home Assistant Green with ZBT-1 dongle. Hub antenna is situated 3 meters away from the lamp.

Any ideas?
