Hello,
First of all I‘m not really familiar with Home Assistant yet and my knowledge in electronics are more basic then advanced. So sorry if the question isittle stupid!
Would it be possible to remove the hall sensor and solder some wires to it? So it’s possible to hide the big housing somewhere nearby and place the small sensor and magnet where it has to be?
Or will there be problems caused by wire resistance or something else?
Yes, that’s where I started this process. At the moment there isn’t a working solution. I have some things to test out but haven’t had time to revisit yet.
I think that would work if wire length is reasonable. Wire resistance likely doesn’t bother here since current is so small but long wires are capturing interferences.
If you have working unit, observe the hall output voltage while bringing the magnet close to it and left there, then removing it. That would help to identify how the hall works. Is it just simply 2.2V / 0V on/off or something else like analog.
I did originally modify with the hall sensor in place but as you can see by previous replies it resulted in rapid battery drain. I damaged the sensor doing some more testing so my board no longer has the hall attached.
Next steps: Identify a power source that remains at 2.194v regardless of switching state and test with a pull up resistor. The test pad test I tried didn’t work but didn’t manage to confirm if the the test pad maintains power at all times.
