Ikea Tradfri bulb not recognized as light

Hey all, I recently connected a bunch of Ikea GU10 bulbs through Z2MQTT, however it does not show up as a light device, nor its associated light related entities in Home Assistant. I am hence unable to proceed to treat it as a light device in automations and etc.

Context:
Within Z2MQTT, I am able to control the state, brightness, color temperature through Device > Exposes, or alternatively the key controls show up for each bulb when I navigate to the “Dashboard” tab. (Please see screenshots below)

However, under both “Devices” and “Entities” tab, I can only see “select.xxx…”, “sensor.xxx…”, etc, and nothing related to “light.xxx…” (Please see screenshots below).

Can anyone please advise how I can treat this bulb as a ‘Light’ within Home Assistant? Ideally, I would like to group the various bulbs that I have already discovered as light groups, and be able to tweak their brightness, color temperatures together (whether manually, or through automations).

I have tried to google with no success for this matter… Thanks in advance!

What version of Zigbee2MQTT, and what version of HA ?

Hi francisp, please see the versions below.

Zigbee2MQTT veresion: 1.33.1-1
Home Assistant Core: 2023.4.6
Home Assistant Operating System: 10.5

Thank you!

That is your problem

1.33.0

Notes

  • For Home Assistant users: due to #18445 at least Home Assistant 2023.8.0 is required.

(so the same for 1.33.1)

Thank you francisp, I have installed the update for Home Assistant Core, and after restarting, the “light.xxx…” entities have indeed showed up automatically, and I am also able to create light groups, etc as well. That’s really fantastic! I am very thankful for your help now.

However, I noticed that the “Light Altar Middle” (friendly name) lightbulb device has now disappeared from both Z2MQTT device/ dashboard, and also device/ entities in HA. When I opened the “zigbee2mqtt” > “configuration.yaml” file however, I am still able to see the deviceID and friendly name there for some reason (please see screenshot below).

Somewhat related but slightly different, I had previously tried force-remove 2 other similar bulbs in the same area as well, and now they can no longer be re-discovered through Z2MQTT… (there are total 3 ikea bulbs in this area, 1 of which disappeared with this latest update and restart, and 2 which i force-removed for testing purposes previously).

Would you have any idea or advice on what I could try to get these 3 bulbs back please?

A factory reset should do the trick

I’ve tried to factory reset and pair again (power cycle 6/7 times, bulb is flickering in pairing mode), however nothing shows up in Z2MQTT.

Perhaps I could create a different topic for this, and mark your previous comment to upgrade my HA version as the solution?
