Install HA on Raspberry Pi 5

Hi,

After a few years using Google Home that every day is running worse I decided to move to Home Assistant. I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 with 2GB RAM and a 128GB Sandian’s SD Card.

I followed the steps from Home Assistant website to install it in Raspberry Pi, downloading the Raspberry Pi Imager and selecting the right model and program, but when I connected the Raspberry Pi with the SD Card it starts and after a few minutes I just get a black screen with the message “Waiting home assistant CLI to be ready”. Also the only action I can do is Ctrl+C that take me to a black screen and appears the same message after a few seconds. I’ve read some posts from people who had the same issues and I tried some alternatives like download a previous home assistant version and write it in the SD Card using balenaEtcher, but I get the same message.

I also tried buying a 32GB Kingston SD card and I have the same issue. But also after write the program on the SD Card it split the SD card in 6-7 disks and ask me to format all of them.

Any idea how to fix it?

You are following this guide step by step, and not some random youtube vid that may be a long way out of date. show us a picture of the screen you see.
