I usually create a backup of the VM in Proxmox as insurance then also make a Snapshot of the VM prior to the upgrade. I perform the upgrade without internal HA backup.
After testing the upgrade for a few days, if all is good, I delete the backup and Snapshot. If there is a problem, roll back the Snapshot.
I´m planning to migrate from my Raspberry Pi (installed as OS) to Mini-PC using Proxmox.
For Zigbee devices, I´m currently using the RaspBee 2 and Zigbee2Mqtt.
I use the Drive Backup Add-On as well as the RPI storage for the last backup.
What I´m wondering is if I migrate HA and switch to an Zigbee USB device (I already have a ConBee 2 lying around), will everything still work or will I have to reconnect all Zigbee devices to the ConBee?
And if I need to reconnect them, do I need to add them back to HA again or will they be recognized by HA once they connect to ConBee and appear in Zigbee2Mqtt?
I am running HAOS on a generic x64 install and I want to turn my current machine into a proxmox server but what I am wondering is, would I be able to create a backup from my current install from HAOS to the vm install?
Yes, the backup holds only the configuration which you can use on another type of HA installation.
When onboarding on a new setup, you get the option to restore.
The script fails to execute on Proxmox VE 8.3 (Version check specifies 8.[0-2] explicitly). I manually updated the file locally to include 8.3 and ran it on a fresh installation. It returned “command ‘apt-get update’ failed: exit code 100” but otherwise seems to have executed successfully and PVE continues to operate normally. YMMV.
The scripts have been relocated due to the tteck repositiry being archived. You can find the new ones below. There is also some scripts for existing PM users to update repository location information, etc.
I just wanted to say thanks for creating / maintaining this guide and scripts! I just got done migrating my HA instance from a Raspberry Pi4 over to a cheap NUC I picked up on eBay. Everything went without a hitch after I remembered to passthrough my USB devices. The only thing I’m having issues with is using my router’s DHCP server to statically set an IP address for the HA VM. I pulled the MAC from the VM and set it up in DHCP to a manual assignment but it looks like the router isn’t recognizing that MAC. Either way, it’s not a huge deal and everything else is working great! Thanks!
