Internetradio via hass headphones

Hello everyone

I would like to play an internet radio via home assistant, there is a reciever connected through the headphone output. Have searched everywhere but only come across chromecast related topics, anyone have any idea how I can do this? I also have a Raspberry PI 4

Take a look at this topic, it explains how to use the local audio output of the raspberry for tts etc.

Might be what you need.

SOrry, unfortunately this does not work

In 20 min you followed all these instructions and it didn’t work?
Here someone confirmed it worked with Hass.io
Hassio and local audio

Do you run Hass.io? If not and you just want to play music maybe VLC is enough
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/vlc

I installed it again, but get:

MPD
Not available

Are you using Hass.io? Which version of home assistant are you running? Where do you get the error “not available”? Did you install modipy?

Home Assistant is supposed to be a SERVER. Why try and also make it into a music player when Raspberry Pi’s are so cheap? Buy another RPi. Let Home Assistant do it’s thing without trying to make it into a multi-use machine. Do you see businesses letting their employees surf the net etc. on their mainframe servers?

Dear Dave, shall we keep it ontopic for a moment?

It’s a valid question tho. I also don’t think it is the best idea to use the home assistant server for this as well, but to each his own.
