Two of my TP-Link (Tapo) smart switches will not let me configure them. I searched and most say to delete the add-on but there is no option to delete add-ons for some strange reason. Another search result said you have to start all over again with HAos which I find hard to believe.
I have got the same problem
deleted, but when re installing not pick up Ip address
works fine on Tapo app
All sorted !! It was Wi-Fi strength. In UK with BT Hub Router plus 3 x Wi-Fi Discs.
Some p100 plugs were on the wrong Disc (Wi-Fi extender).
Yeah mine work fine in the Tapo app also. And I have 4 other switches that are working fine in Home Assistant. Not sure why these two are giving such a fit. I just got 3 more Tapo switches so I am going to add those and see what happens.
hope u sort it !
For me, mine was trying to connect to the 5ghz wifi. It was showing up twice and I didn’t realize one was 2.4 which it needs to connect to.
All mine are connected to my IoT guest network which 2.4 GHz which is not even close to the SSID of any of my 5 GHz so not sure why HAos is not liking some but likes others. How did everyone set them up to start with? I set mine up using the Tapo app but I see that you can also choose another app like HAos which I tried but it fails to find the devices when setting it up. I also tried via Smartthings but that fails also… There is also Googles Home but that fails. Maybe they need to be setup using Matter for HAos to play nice with them? Sorry… Just thinking out loud
Did you solve it?
I have the exact same issue : 30+ Kasa work fine but 7 can’t be configured, even if they work fine on the Kasa app on my phone…
Same issue here. Installed two kasa HS200 switch. Cannot add them to HA. I think tp-link broke the integration or something has changed with integration or simply these firmware is not supported somehow. Both have a firmware update on the app. initially did not update the firmware on both switch and did not work. Than to check if firmware could be an issue, updated firmware on one and still did not work. Tried changing the password in the app and tried with new password and still did not work. sometimes I get Invalid authentication: Server response doesn’t match our challenge on ip 192.168.xxx.xxx. other times i get LOGIN_ERROR(-1501) (error_code=LOGIN_ERROR).
one is on firmware 1.0.3 and the other is 1.0.1. Both are HS200 hardware version 5.26
Sad to say but I’m here for exact same reason.
Although I added three plugs last month and they work perfect.
Need to say that two new plugs are French, while the other three are somewhat other EU region.
Didn’t find the solution.
Nope. Still hoping someone has a fix here.
I had the same problem, I solved it by entering the email of my TP Link account instead of the username
Well, I solved it somewhat as described above.
I changed the password once, added new outlets, and then changed the password back again.
So you can try this and it may help in some cases.
I changed the password on the website to the same one I was using and everything worked.
THANKS! That fixed it!
Hey, i’m having the same issue where abouts (what url) on the website did you change your password?
Thank you
This worked for me, both using email or username did not fix the issue
In the TAPO app
Just got mine back on, nearly all tapo devices were unavailable.
Tried changing password.
Then rebooted hass, not restart, go advanced->reboot. Then I tried reconfigure one device, it worked and all came back.
