We have widgets for the iphone but they don’t seem to be compatible with the new lockscreen widget system. It would be awesome if we could get that

Looks like that’s for Live Activities rather than lock screen widgets 
I have seen people do something like this using https://scriptable.app/.
Though not for home assistant. Here is an example where someone created a lock screen widget for their micro inverter solar system: GitHub - toto/solarman-widget-scriptable: Widget for the Solarman API using https://scriptable.app
