If I want HA to alert me to something important, like my dryer is done or a leak has been detected in the basement, I want it to do something a little more noticeable than simply changing the colour of Alexa’s light. Is there currently a way to do this?

you can use Alexa to do a voice announcement.
There are at least two threads running that explain how to do it.

I’m excited to share with you all a component that I have been working on for the last week that allows controlling amazon echo devices (and clones) directly in home assistant!
With Amazon rolling out the new Announce function for Echo’s, will this open up possibilities for Ha to add in TTS support as it works for the Google Assistant/Home?
The feature is live on my Australian Echo’s now, and works making a recording of what I say and then repeating it to all other Echo devices on my network. It would be great to see this integrated in HA.
