Is this a new Sonoff device? Sonoff Mini

thanks guys, that makes sense now. Pity the DIY jumper doesn’t activate a little web server that just has a firmware file select to flash any firmware you like OTA, a bit like the Tasmota functionality.

Main issue is I’m on a mac, so can’t use that Sonoff DIY OTA method. So my only reflash option is solder wires to the PCB?

Here are manual instructions that should work for MacOS:

Does anyone know if the Sonoff mini can be used with a momentary switch with Tasmota?

Hi’ @karstensson

Yep. Have several ‘Tasmotized’ Sonoff Mini’s and Shelly’s with momentary switches around the house.
Working perfectly here !

Ciao !

Thanks for the answer @htvekov

Rubbish product. 40% failures in 2 months. Hard to recommend other than cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Customer support is next to useless, with no warranty or returns policy.
Buy a reputable brand and avoid disappointment.

Hi’ Magnus.

You must have been unlucky then, since you have a 40% failure rate on Sonoff product ?
I have several (some 8 in total) Sonoff device types, all working here 24/7 on third year now.

Agreed, that fw is next to useless, but all the people I know use ESPHome or Tasmota on all these devices.
PCB quality is decent, but not more than that. Enclosures on some units are horrible, but the mini’s are quite decent in build quality.
I believe that you actually get what you pay for, as the devices are dirt cheap.
Safety could be an issue, though. Especially if installing devices behind wall outlets/sockets etc.
I would recommend Shelly devices for such installs.

Ciao !
