Late 2023: what to choose to get a full thermal sensor?

I was looking for a wifi thermal sensor and ended on posts advising ESPHome to achieve this. So I’ve been to this now huge Internet Web and maybe found too much information.

One of this posts was:

But it was in 2022. Nowadays what would you use to build some (ESP01/ESP32/…)? I don’t want to solder anything. I’d like it to go in a box (3D print or existing?). I want to use them with rechargeable external USB battery (one for each, but how much mAh?). I need 1 measure every 2 to 5 minutes and communicate with my Home Assistant through Wifi.

I also need everything to program/flash them through Hassio.

What should I put in my Santa Claus wishes list?

Regards,

Without soldering? Eeks, that may be tough to find something that does that and works easily with Home Assistant.

I just bought one of these for a project I’m toying with to let me know when the fireplace needs a log, I’ll hook it up to to an ESP32, 3D print a case for it and park it in front of the fireplace:

Winter is over, it is midsummer

Don’t assume everyone is in the northern hemisphere

I though it was the way Apple did it, but I checked and they use: Early, Mid and Late. So I would change the subject to Late 2023, if I can.

What are you trying to measure?
